Fowler is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cardinals, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat.

Fowler has been sizzling since the All-Star break, but he will get a day off after starting the last 10 games in center field. Austin Jackson will get the start in his place Tuesday night.

Fowler led off the game with his 17th homer in a game the Cubs blew out the Cardinals. He came into this contest struggling in September, as he only had two hits in 18 at-bats, so hopefully this performance helps to get him over his slump.

Fowler supplied two singles and a double across five at-bats in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Dodgers.

Fowler was one of the catalysts of the Cubs' 13-hit attack, but the only runs of the game came in the top of the first inning, when Kris Bryant hit a two-run shot following a leadoff strikeout by Fowler. Though he failed to add to his team-high 84 runs on the season Sunday, Fowler has proven to be a solid fit at the top of the order, providing a .353 on-base percentage to go along with 14 homers and 17 steals.

Fowler (hand) is back in the lineup Friday against the Dodgers.

The 29-year-old will return to his normal spots in center field and atop the order Friday after missing two starts with a bruised hand and shin. Fowler is one of few players to enjoy sustained success against reigning NL MVP Clayton Kershaw, Friday's starter for Los Angeles, having collected 17 hits in 40 at-bats against the lefty so far in his career (.425 average).

Fortunately, neither ailment is believed to be serious, as X-rays on both the hand and shin were returned negative.

Fowler is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Giants.

While Fowler is enjoying his best of the season by far in terms of OPS (.958), he hasn't had a rest day since July 22, and the Cubs are currently in the midst of a stretch of 26 games in 27 days. Chris Denorfia will spell Fowler in center field Wednesday, with Kyle Schwarber moving atop the order against right-hander Jake Peavy.

Fowler went 0-for-4 on both Friday and Saturday, dropping his batting average to .225, its lowest point since the season's first days. Fowler is just 5-for-37 in July coming on the heels of a couple of poor months. Though his 53 runs, eight home runs, and 12 stolen bases have helped fantasy teams, he's been a bit of a disappoint in his first season with the Cubs. Heading into the last game before the All-Star break, Fowler is slashing just .225/.303/.364 with a 35:81 BB:K. He's still the best leadoff hitter the Cubs have, but manager Joe Maddon may have to try other options if Fowler's slump continues.

Fowler is out of the lineup Thursday against the Mets. Fowler dealt with some ankle troubles earlier last week, but has since made five straight starts for the Cubs. He'll take a seat Thursday, however, giving way to Chris Denorfia in center field. Starlin Castro will move up in the order to bat leadoff.

Fowler (ankle) is back in the Cubs' lineup Friday. He will return to patrolling center field and hitting leadoff for the Cubs after coming off the bench for a few games due to an ankle issue. After a hot start to the season Fowler is hitting .238, but his eight home runs and 11 steals in 70 games this season already matches the totals he posted in 116 games last season, so there is some counting stat production to be had here.

Fowler (ankle) is out of the lineup Thursday. He has been out of the lineup in each of the last two games, but has made appearances in both contests as a pinch-hitter. Chris Denorfia gets the start in center field Thursday and Fowler should be considered day-to-day.
