Fowler went 3-for-4 with a double, walk, and three runs scored in the regular-season opener against the Angels on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler looks like he could score 100 runs batting atop the lineup for the Cubs, and he's off to a good start. The recent injury to his side that kept him off the field appears to be gone.

Fowler (side tightness) went 0-for-2 in his return to the lineup Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler had been out of action for a week, but he managed to play in the spring finale. He should be good to go for the opener Monday.

Fowler is "good to go" and will play Sunday, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Maddon stated that Fowler is being held out of the lineup to ensure he will be healthy for the opener. It sounds like the Cubs' center fielder will be in the lineup come Opening Day against the Angels.

Fowler (side) remains out of the lineup Wednesday, Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite the day off, the injury doesn't seem to be too serious. The Cubs are likely just taking it easy with Fowler, giving him as much rest as they can so that he's 100 percent for Opening Day.

Fowler is not concerned about the tightness in his side that forced him from Sunday's spring game, MLB.com's Carrie Muskat reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler played just one inning in Sunday's game and was held out Monday due to the soreness, but he said he is not concerned about his health, so it appears the Cubs are just being cautious with the regular season just a week away. Expect Fowler to be in the lineup when Opening Day rolls around.

Fowler was removed from Sunday's Cactus League outing against the Mariners due to tightness in his left side, Jesse Rogers of ESPN Chicago reports.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler opened the bottom of the first inning with a solo homer, but was removed between innings, as Jason Heyward moved to center field to allow Mark Zagunis to man right. Although the Cubs are terming the tightness as mild, Fowler may see a few-day respite, as there's little reason to press the issue in the waning moments of the spring.

Fowler went 1-for-2 with a triple and walk against the Royals on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Fowler now has five walks and has been hit by two pitches this spring, pushing a poor .222 batting average up to a strong .382 on-base percentage. Given the number of strong hitters who will be hitting behind him in the lineup this year, his ability to get on base is going to lead to plenty of run-scoring opportunities.

Fowler is 1-for-5 with one home run, one run, and one RBI through two spring training games.
EDGE Analysis
After smacking a career-high 17 home runs in 2015, Fowler has picked up right where he left off with his power stroke. While it is unlikely that he duplicates his home run total from last season, he is showing more consistent power than earlier in his career which is a good sign. Fowler will likely be the everyday center fielder and leadoff hitter for the Cubs in 2016.

Fowler will lead off when he is in the lineup, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Maddon made this statement in a press conference following the announcement of Fowler's signing. With a stacked lineup behind him, the 29-year-old would have a good chance to cross the 100 run threshold for the second straight season. Fowler hit .272/.389/.463 after the All-Star break last season and will look to continue that success into 2016.

In a shocking move, Fowler will sign a one-year deal with the Cubs, backing out of an agreed upon three-year deal with the Orioles, the Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal includes a mutual option for a second year and leaves the Orioles scratching their heads as to what went wrong. Presumably Fowler either got cold feet or the Cubs saw how cheap the Orioles were able to sign the versatile outfield for and decided to jump in the fray. In a corresponding move, Chicago traded Chris Coghlan to the A's. There may be yet another shoe to drop, as the Cubs now have a center fielder and two right fielders in Jason Heyward and Jorge Soler. If the Cubs somehow don't trade Soler, Fowler's playing time could take a hit, as he would be sharing time with Heyward and Kyle Schwarber in center field and left field, respectively. His fantasy value will undoubtedly take a hit anyway, as he projects to hit lower in the order with Heyward and Ben Zobrist likely occupying the top two spots whenever they are in the lineup. The dust hasn't fully settled, but his stock is definitely trending down after this shocking development.
