Travis underwent surgery on his left shoulder and will likely miss the beginning of the regular season, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reported that Travis had a pre-existing acromion bone non-union in his left shoulder which was discovered during the season. After exhausting every other option, the Blue Jays opted to have the 24-year-old undergo surgery, which Nicholson-Smith reported included screws inserted into the second-baseman's shoulder in order to stabilize the bone. He's expected to miss all of spring training, and it's very possible Travis could also miss the first month of the regular season. Ryan Goins will likely take over at second base during his absence, but it remains to be seen if the Blue Jays will add more depth to their infield during the offseason in order to compensate for the loss.

Travis will undergo exploratory left shoulder surgery next Wednesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The procedure will formally close the door on Travis' return this season, with the Blue Jays hoping to have him back for the start of spring training in 2016. Travis was a leading candidate for AL Rookie of the Year honors after huge month of April, but injury issues compromised those efforts. The second baseman finishes the year with a .304/.361/.498 batting line to go along with eight homers, 35 RBI, and 38 runs scored.

Travis (shoulder) was transferred to the 60-day DL on Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
This move likely means little to Travis, as it's more about the Toronto front office is making room for the returning Marcus Stroman (knee). It is now going to be much more difficult for Travis to return in 2015, as the Blue Jays will need to take someone off their 40-man roster to bring him back.

Travis (shoulder) received a cortisone shot last week and manager John Gibbons had no further update on his status, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Ryan Goins playing as well as he is of late, the need for Travis to come back is less pressing. Furthermore, it appears as if Travis may be done for the season as his shoulder has taken far longer to recover than initially expected. His stat line currently sits at .304 with eight home runs and 35 RBI in 217 at-bats. While his inability to stay on the field hampered his value, the 24-year-old is one of the most promising middle infielders and showed why when healthy.

Toronto Blue Jays second baseman Devon Travis is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies because of a shoulder injury, according to the team's official website. Travis injured himself during Tuesday's game but has said that he hopes to play through the issue, though the team has not disclosed the severity of the injury. The rookie missed 36 games earlier this season after sustaining a shoulder injury and it is not known if his latest setback is related. "Obviously, it's pretty frustrating," Travis said following Tuesday's game. "I'll do all that I can to play through this one." Travis underwent an MRI on Wednesday, and the results will help determine if he will be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Ryan Goins and Danny Valencia are candidates to see an increase in playing time while Travis is out.
