David Ortiz singled and launched a two-run homer in Thursday's loss to the Cardinals. Ortiz's two-run blast in the sixth inning over the Green Monster gave the Red Sox a short-lived lead, but the Cards answered with three runs in the seventh to even the series. Papi also had a single to beat the shift in the eighth but was left stranded. The postseason stud has now gone deep in each of the first two games of the World Series.

David Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's Game 1 win over the Cardinals. Ortiz lashed an Adam Wainwright pitch to deep right in the second inning, coming within inches of a grand slam. It instead went for a long sacrifice fly as Carlos Beltran was able to pull it back from over the wall. Ortiz left nothing to chance in the seventh, crushing a Kevin Siegrist fastball over the wall for a two-run homer. The bomb gave the Red Sox a 7-0 lead, and they'd go on to win by a score of 8-1.

Red Sox manager John Farrell said on WEEI on Wednesday that David Ortiz will start "one if not two games" at first base once the World Series shifts to St. Louis. The Red Sox will not have the luxury of the designated hitter under National League rules, so Farrell will have to make a choice between Mike Napoli and Ortiz to play first base. Either way, they'll be missing a big bat for each game in St. Louis.

Red Sox manager John Farrell confirmed Monday afternoon that David Ortiz will play first base when the World Series shifts to St. Louis for Games 3, 4 and 5. Ortiz has only made a handful of starts at first base over the past several seasons, but the Red Sox don't want to lose his bat from the lineup and will hope to survive the downgrade on defense. This year's World Series begins Wednesday night at Boston's Fenway Park.

David Ortiz launched a game-tying grand slam with two-outs in the eighth inning on Sunday, breathing life into what had been an anemic offensive attack, and leading the Red Sox to a dramatic come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Tigers in Game 2 of the ALCS. For the second straight night, the Red Sox were hitless through the first five innings against Max Scherzer, finally breaking through for a pair of hits and their first run of the series in the sixth. That all changed when Jim Leyland went to his bullpen in the eighth inning, as the Red Sox utilized a pair of hits and a walk to set up Ortiz's heroics off Joaquin Benoit. The Red Sox have now evened the series at 1-1, and will carry that momentum into Motown for Tuesday's Game 3.

David Ortiz hit two home runs as the Red Sox beat the Rays 7-4 in Game 2 of the ALDS on Saturday. Big Papi has 14 career postseason home runs, but Saturday's game was surprisingly his first ever multi-homer game. Ortiz hit a solo shot in the first inning to make the score 2-0, and his eighth inning blast was the last pitch of the night for Rays starter David Price. The homers were Ortiz' first since the 2008 ALCS against -- you guessed it -- the Rays.

David Ortiz is not in the Red Sox lineup for Saturday's game against the Orioles. It's just a routine day of rest for the veteran slugger against opposing left-hander Wei-Yin Chen. Ortiz belted a three-run homer in Friday's game, giving him his seventh career 30-homer, 100-RBI season with the Red Sox. Mike Napoli will serve as the team's DH on Saturday with Brandon Snyder getting the start at first base.

David Ortiz finished 2-for-5 with a three-run homer and two runs scored Friday against the Orioles. Thanks to a strong September, Ortiz is now up to 30 home runs and 103 RBI on the year. This is his seventh career 30-homer, 100-RBI campaign, tying Ted Williams for the franchise record.

David Ortiz went 2-for-6 with a home run against the Orioles on Wednesday. Ortiz hit the homer, a two-run shot, in the first inning of what ended up being a 12-inning game. The home run gave him 28 homers and 96 RBI on the year. With a strong finish he's got a shot to top 102 RBI for the first time since 2007.

David Ortiz went 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in the Red Sox' 20-4 drubbing of the Tigers on Wednesday. Ortiz launched two of the team's eight home runs hit on the night, and his four RBI tied him for a game-high with Will Middlebrooks. The homers gave him 26 home runs on the year to go with 89 RBI and a .313/.396/.567 line. If Papi's bat is supposed to be slowing down at the age of 37, we're not seeing it yet.
