David Ortiz launched a game-tying grand slam with two-outs in the eighth inning on Sunday, breathing life into what had been an anemic offensive attack, and leading the Red Sox to a dramatic come-from-behind 6-5 victory over the Tigers in Game 2 of the ALCS.
For the second straight night, the Red Sox were hitless through the first five innings against Max Scherzer, finally breaking through for a pair of hits and their first run of the series in the sixth. That all changed when Jim Leyland went to his bullpen in the eighth inning, as the Red Sox utilized a pair of hits and a walk to set up Ortiz's heroics off Joaquin Benoit. The Red Sox have now evened the series at 1-1, and will carry that momentum into Motown for Tuesday's Game 3.
