Danny Santana (eye) is not available Saturday.
Santana left Friday's game with a lacerated eyelid after he stole third base and his helmet hit him in the face. He's still dealing with some swelling above his eye, so the Twins will give him a breather. He could return Sunday, so consider him day-to-day.

Danny Santana was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees after suffering a lacerated eyelid.
He sustained the injury when stealing third base in the second inning when his helmet came off and smashed him in the face. He's heading for stitches, and it remains unclear how long he'll be sidelined.

Danny Santana was forced to leave Friday's game against the Yankees in the second inning due to an apparent injury.
Santana doubled in his first at-bat then proceeded to swipe third base. As he dove into third though, it appeared as though his helmet came off and cut him in the face near his eye. With the medical staff unable to stop the bleeding, Aaron Hicks came in to pinch-run for him. The Twins should have an update on his status shortly.

Danny Santana went 3-for-4 and stole his first base Thursday against the Rangers.
Santana made his fourth start in center field today. He's also started at shortstop six times since being called up on May 3. He's doing a nice job offensively with his .368 average in 38 at-bats, but his defense in center remains a work in progress. His fantasy value is pretty limited.

Twins recalled INF Danny Santana from Triple-A Rochester.
Santana is expected to serve as the primary backup to Eduardo Escobar at shortstop, but could also conceivably see some time in the outfield. The 23-year-old was hitting .268/.311/.381 with seven RBI and four stolen bases in his first 24 games at Rochester.

Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said Friday that Danny Santana will join the team on Saturday.
The 23-year-old is hitting just .268/.311/.381 with seven RBI in his first 24 games at Triple-A and will provide depth in the middle infield for the Twins. With Pedro Florimon struggling, he could get regular looks at shortstop.

Twins optioned INF Danny Santana, LHP Kris Johnson and C Eric Fryer to Triple-A Rochester; reassigned OFs Darin Mastroianni and Jermaine Mitchell and INFs James Beresford and Brandon Waring to minor league camp.
Mastroianni had a shot to make the Opening Day roster as an extra outfielder, but it appears the Twins will carry Aaron Hicks instead. Santana's demotion likely means the club is confident that Pedro Florimon (appendectomy) will be ready for Opening Day.

Danny Santana went 2-for-3 with a double and a walk as a Twins split-squad topped the Yankees 7-3 on Friday.
Santana has impressed this spring, going 9-for-22 with five extra-base hits and a couple of steals. He's still rather erratic defensively, and he's not a candidate to take Pedro Florimon's starting shortstop job in April. Maybe he'll have the opportunity in July.
