Santana will start at third base and bat second Tuesday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
After starting in left field Monday against the Phillies and finishing a home run shy of the cycle, Santana will be rewarded with another turn in the lineup. With manager Brian Snitker suggesting that Freddie Freeman would see most of his starts at his natural first base position during the final two months of the season, the Braves seemingly have a permanent vacancy at the hot corner. Along with Santana, it's expected that Brandon Phillips -- who was pushed off regular duties at second base following the promotion of Ozzie Albies from Triple-A Gwinnett -- will receive more opportunities to play third base.

Santana (infection) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Monday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Santana will return from the DL after the minimum 10-day stay. He'll likely be limited to a bench utility role with plenty of other proven options around the diamond. To make room for him and Sean Rodriguez on the active roster, Jace Peterson and Jason Hursh were sent to Triple-A.

Santana (infection) is expected to be activated from the DL prior to Monday's game against the Cubs, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran utility player has missed 10 games due to a leg infection. Santana will re-join a crowded Braves bench that will also now feature Sean Rodriguez (shoulder), who's also coming off the DL on Monday.

Santana (infection) has been cleared to play, and will start for Triple-A Gwinnett on Friday, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Following this news, Santana should be able to return for Atlanta's next series against the Cubs on Monday, barring any setbacks while rehabbing at the Triple-A level. The utility man has been playing a decent amount for the Braves, but hasn't produced much, hitting just .223/.275/.393 with three home runs and 18 RBI during 55 games this season.

Santana was placed on the 10-day disabled list Friday with a bacterial infection in his leg.
EDGE Analysis
Santana has seen an uptick in playing time recently as the team's super-utility player, but will find himself sidelined indefinitely heading into the All-Star break. Although it's unclear as to the length of time needed for recovery, the team is unlikely to rush him back into action due to the severity of such an ailment. Santana finished last month with a slash line of .302/.362/.512 while mainly serving as a pinch hitter and will be replaced on the roster by Jace Peterson, who was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett.

Santana went 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Friday's win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
He's now 7-for-11 over his last four games with a homer, five RBI and five runs, and Santana could earn a larger share of the playing time at third base while Adonis Garcia (finger) is on the DL, and perhaps even after Garcia returns to action, if he remains hot at the plate.

Santana went 4-for-5 with a two-run home run, two doubles, three RBI and three runs during Sunday's win over Cincinnati.
EDGE Analysis
Santana entered the game with a .396 OPS through 36 plate appearances as a Brave, so Sunday's showing was by far his best since joining Atlanta. Considering he doesn't have a full-time job and sports a .200/.224/.415 slash line for the year, Santana offers limited fantasy value. He's definitely worth keeping tabs on in deeper settings, though.

Santana went 1-for-4 with a two-run double in Monday's 6-3 win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Santana closed out a big six-run third for the Braves with a two-bagger to deep right which plated Tyler Flowers and Rio Ruiz. The 26-year-old was hitless in his first 18 at-bats with Atlanta after being acquired from the Twins on May 8, but he's gone 4-for-14 with three doubles, a triple and four RBI in the last six games.

Santana was acquired from Minnesota in exchange for relief pitcher Kevin Chapman, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was designated for assignment after posting just a .200/.231/.360 mark over 13 games for the Twins, disappointingly similar to his .240/.279/.326 performance over 75 games last season. He is a versatile defender, though, capable of playing all outfield positions as well as the shortstop and second base. Santana is unlikely to be a major part of Atlanta's future, but he can at least eat up some plate appearances and defensive innings while the club rebuilds.

Santana was designated for assignment by the Twins on Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was ousted to clear room on the roster for Ehire Adrianza (oblique), who was activated from the disabled list Friday. The 26-year-old only registered 25 at-bats before being DFA'd, slashing .200/.231/.360 with one homer and one stolen base. He could draw some interest on waivers; otherwise he'll likely head to Triple-A Rochester.
