Santana was acquired from Minnesota in exchange for relief pitcher Kevin Chapman, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was designated for assignment after posting just a .200/.231/.360 mark over 13 games for the Twins, disappointingly similar to his .240/.279/.326 performance over 75 games last season. He is a versatile defender, though, capable of playing all outfield positions as well as the shortstop and second base. Santana is unlikely to be a major part of Atlanta's future, but he can at least eat up some plate appearances and defensive innings while the club rebuilds.
