Duffy (1-2) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Twins, allowing two runs (one earned) on two hits and a walk over five innings. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The Royals ran through five pitchers in seven innings during the matinee, so while Duffy doesn't credit for an official quality start, the length he provided helped give the bullpen a needed break. The southpaw threw 53 of his 84 pitches for strikes, and the eight strikeouts tied his season high. Duffy will take a 4.44 ERA and 28:7 K:BB through 24.1 innings into his next outing Friday, a rematch with the Twins back in Kansas City.

Duffy allowed four runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four over four innings in a no-decision against the Twins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The lefty has alternated losses and no-decisions through four outings. His offense let him down last week in Chicago but bailed him out here with six runs in the bottom of the fourth after Duffy gave up a pair of homers in the top of the frame. It does not get any easier for Duffy as he lines to face this same Twins team again in his next two starts.

Duffy (0-2) allowed one run on three hits and four walks across six innings Monday, striking out six batters and taking a loss against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
With the Cubs pitching staff shutting out the Royals, Duffy was unfortunately tagged with his second loss of the year despite allowing just one run on a fifth-inning sacrifice fly by Javier Baez. Through three starts, the 31-year-old lefty is sporting a 4.11 ERA and 16:5 K:BB. Duffy will face the Twins at home Saturday.

Duffy (0-1) was tagged with the loss during Friday's 2-0 defeat against the Indians. He gave up two runs on three hits while striking out two across 4.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy didn't walk anyone -- a positive sign given his 3.2 BB/9 last season -- and 40 of his 65 pitches were strikes, so there shouldn't be a lot of reason for concern despite the fact he only went 4.1 frames. Duffy's next start will come on the road against the Tigers on July 29.

Duffy will be the Royals' starter for their Opening Day contest in Cleveland on July 24, Alec Lewis of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy got the Opening Day nod in both 2017 and 2018 but was out with a shoulder injury at the start of last season, giving Brad Keller the opportunity instead. The veteran southpaw remains a capable enough pitcher, though he wouldn't be the ace for many teams in the league, as his 4.34 ERA and 20.7 percent strikeout rate last season were both unimpressive marks.

Duffy was focused on improving his changeup during Cactus League action, Lynn Worthy of The Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Duffy made two exhibition starts, racking up nine punchouts across six innings. Despite the strong performance, Duffy noted that he was working to improve his changeup and cited its importance after he allowed a .257/.354/.434 line to opposing left-handed hitters in 2019. While he is no longer the clear ace of the Royals' rotation, Duffy should be locked in as one of the team's starting five throughout the season.

Duffy (7-6) picked up the win in Tuesday's 9-6 victory over Atlanta, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
A five-run third inning by the Royals' offense gave Duffy all the support he would need, and the southpaw exited the game after 87 pitches (52 strikes). He wraps up an injury-marred season with a 4.34 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 115:46 K:BB through 130.2 innings -- his smallest workload since he established himself as a big-league starter in 2014.

Duffy took a no-decision during Wednesday's loss despite holding the A's scoreless with six strikeouts across seven innings while allowing two hits and a walk.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw held the A's hitless until the fourth, when Marcus Semien doubled to right center. It was the first time all season that Duffy did not surrender any runs. The 30-year-old will bring a 4.30 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 110:44 K:BB into a Tuesday matchup against the Braves.

Duffy didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 4-1 loss to the Astros, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over six innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
The southpaw appeared headed for his seventh loss of the season despite another quality start after being outdueled by Gerrit Cole, but the Royals got Duffy off the hook with a run in the eighth inning. He'll carry a 4.55 ERA and 104:43 K:BB through 118.2 innings into his next outing Wednesday, as he looks to extend his QS streak to four in Oakland.

Duffy (6-6) allowed one run on two hits with four walks and five strikeouts across six innings while earning a victory against the Marlins on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old's problems with walks returned, but he still held the opposition to one run for the second time in his last five starts. However, he's also yielded eight runs in an outing during that time, so Duffy hasn't made any progress in the ERA department. He owns a 4.71 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 98 strikeouts in 112.2 innings this season. Duffy will start again Friday at home against the Astros.
