Daniel Murphy will make his first start of the season at first base Tuesday against the Cardinals. The Mets called up Josh Satin to replace the demoted Ike Davis on the active roster, but Murphy will get the first crack to fill in at first base. In turn, Jordany Valdespin will start at second base and bat leadoff. Valdespin could be an interesting option in deeper mixed leagues if he starts getting regular playing time.

David Murphy is expected to serve as the Mets' primary first baseman while Ike Davis is in the minors. That will allow the Mets to test Jordany Valdespin at second base. Davis was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday night after posting a .161/.242/.258 batting line in 55 games. He will have to perform well down on the farm before the Mets consider bringing him back up.
