Daniel Murphy returned to action on Sunday and went 0-for-3 against the Nationals.
Murphy missed six days with a right leg problem. The Mets will want him in the lineup regularly from here on in so that he can find his stroke prior to Opening Day.

Daniel Murphy (leg) is expected to return to the Mets' lineup Sunday.
Murphy hasn't played in a week due to shin issues, but it appears he's now ready to go. After a strong 2013 season, Murphy will be the Mets' starting second baseman and No. 2 hitter this season.

Daniel Murphy (leg) remains out of the Mets lineup on Saturday.
The second baseman was expected to return to the lineup Saturday, but did not make the trip to Jupiter with the team. He hasn't played since Sunday, and though he admits feeling better, still isn't sure when he'll return to game action. He should be ready to go for Opening Day, but any setback now would put that in jeopardy.

Daniel Murphy went 3-for-3 with a double in the Mets' 10-4 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday.
Murphy missed a few days earlier this month with cuts on his shin, and he entered today just 1-for-11 this spring. While he picked up a rep as one of the game's most injury-prone players early in his career, he's remained completely healthy the last two years. He'll be the Mets' No. 2 hitter again this year, though he could be a candidate for a midsummer trade.

Daniel Murphy (shin) resumed baseball activities on Tuesday.
Murphy's shin was skinned on an aggressive slide Friday and he hasn't played since. Mets manager Terry Collins doesn't think it's a big deal and has told the media that it's his decision that Murphy's not playing, not the player's.

Mets avoided arbitration with 2B Daniel Murphy by agreeing to a one-year, $5.7 million contract.
Murphy, who was arbitration-eligible for the second time, can also earn an additional $50,000 if he reaches 500 plate appearances. The second baseman is coming off a nice 2013 campaign that saw him bat .286/.319/.415 while setting career highs in home runs (13), RBI (78), runs (92) and stolen bases (23).

Eduardo Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles have inquired on the availability of Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy.
The O's also talked about Ike Davis and Lucas Duda, though talks were very preliminary and stalled out when it became known that the Mets coveted Eduardo Rodriguez. While he's been shopped around this offseason, it looks more and more likely that the 28-year-old will stay put.

Daniel Murphy wants to remain with the Mets.
The Mets have reportedly shopped Murphy aggressively this offseason but haven't found an acceptable package. "I was able to keep track of it a little bit," said Murphy. "It didn't seem like there was a whole, whole lot going on. ... I want to be in New York. We've struggled the last couple of years, and I also feel like hopefully my best baseball is ahead of me. So when you feel like you've been a little part of the problem, you want to be a part of the solution. So that's what I'm looking forward to -- to hopefully being part of the solution around here." Murphy, under team control for two more seasons, is arbitration-eligible for the second time this winter after batting .286/.319/.415 with 13 homers and 23 steals for the Mets in 2013.
