Descalso, who now has two home runs on the year, provided all the heroics and runs for the Snakes in this extra-innings pitcher's duel Sunday. The veteran utility player is batting just .178/.275/.333 on the year, though, and should remain just a bench bat in Arizona, limiting his fantasy value considerably. Unless an injury allows him to find more playing time, he's not even very attractive in deep NL-only leagues.

After missing the start of last year with a hand injury, the 30-year-old slashed .264/.349/.424 across 289 plate appearances with the Rockies. The utility infielder will help out a thin Diamondbacks infield who traded away starting shortstop Jean Segura in the offseason. Arizona designated Phil Gosselin for assignment to make room for Descalso.

Descalso is out of the lineup Sunday against the Brewers.

The season finale is a rather meaningless one for the Rockies, so they'll rest the veteran Descalso in order to make room in the lineup for the more youthful Cristhian Adames.
