Descalso went 1-for-3 with a game-winning solo homer in the Rockies' 4-3 victory over the Padres on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran infielder got one of his occasional starts in place of DJ LeMahieu and made it count, with his solo homer leading off the eighth against Joaquin Benoit securing the win for Colorado. Descalso has only five homers on the season and has generally had a disappointing 2015 campaign with the bat, currently hitting 28 points below his career .239 average.

Descalso hit a go-ahead solo homer in the eighth inning to lift the Rockies to a 4-3 win over the Padres on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies managed just five hits on the afternoon, but four of them were home runs, with none bigger than Descalso's blast. With the team enjoying generally sound health at second base, third base, and shortstop this season, Descalso has logged just 181 plate appearances. Don't expect him to pick up many starts down the stretch.

Descalso hit an RBI triple in the fourth inning of Friday's win over the Braves.
It was the lone hit of the night for Descalso, who entered the lineup with Troy Tulowitzki receiving the evening off. With the Rockies enjoying generally sound health from their infield this season, Descalso's role as the club's utilityman isn't likely to change in the near future.

Descalso notched a pair of base hits and had an RBI over his five plate appearances during Tuesday's doubleheader with the Dodgers.
Descalso's batting average is slowly climbing north after a dismal April, but he won't be in line for regular at-bats unless Troy Tulowitzki misses extensive time with an injury.

Descalso recorded two singles in three at-bats in Sunday's 1-0 loss to the Dodgers.
Filling in for the injured Troy Tulowitzki (quadriceps) for all three games of the weekend series, Descalso was surprisingly productive, going 6-for-10 with a homer, five RBI, and a stolen base. Descalso's pedestrian offensive numbers for his career suggest that he won't be a viable fill-in for Tulowitzki should the star shortstop require more time off, but Descalso could maintain value in the short term. The Rockies will kick off an eight-game homestand Monday against the Phillies, and Coors Field has historically made fantasy assets out of hitters with even lesser abilities than Descalso.

Descalso went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in the 7-1 win against the dodgers on Saturday.
This was Descalso's first homer of the year and he should get some regular playing time until Tulowizki returns from injury. Descalso is only batting .167, but that'll rise as he gets more plate appearances.

Descalso is in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers, according to Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post.
Descalso will start at shortstop Saturday with Troy Tulowitzki out due to a tight quad. Descalso will hit eighth against Dodgers starter Zack Greinke.

Descalso replaced Troy Tulowitzki (quadriceps) in the third inning of Saturday's game against the Dodgers and had a productive night, finishing 2-for-3 with a double, three RBI, and a stolen base.
Early indications are that Tulowitzki likely won't require a DL stint, but the shortstop's shaky history on the health front makes the situation worth monitoring. Descalso stands as the main beneficiary for at-bats if Tulowitzki misses further time, but he shouldn't be counted on to replicate Friday's performance. A career .239 hitter with only 10 homers in 1,422 plate appearances, Descalso's value is almost exclusively tied to his glove.

Descalso started at first base for the Rockies on Sunday, going 0-for-3 with a walk.
Justin Morneau received a day off on Sunday and Descalso received a spot start. He will continue to serve in a utility role for Colorado and carries little fantasy value at the moment.

Descalso received the start at first base in Thursday's series finale against the Padres, striking out twice but earning an RBI after drawing a bases-loaded walk in the first inning.
With the Rockies sending Wilin Rosario back to the minors Wednesday, Descalso now slots in at second on the depth chart at first base, despite his relative inexperience at the position. Unsurprisingly, he had an adventurous day in the field Thursday, which resulted in Justin Morneau replacing him in the late innings. Descalso doesn't figure to get more than the occasional start at first in instances where Morneau needs a rest, but expect the Rockies to eventually look into adding a player who is more comfortable at the position to serve as the primary backup.
