Craig Kimbrel picked up save no. 40 on Tuesday, giving up a hit and fanning two in one shutout inning. Kimbrel has three more saves than his nearest competitors: John Axford and Jose Valverde. His scoreless streak is now at 32 1/3 innings. It's hard to imagine he only recently turned 23 years old.

Craig Kimbrel picked up his MLB-leading 39th save in Sunday's victory over the Diamondbacks. Kimbrel got himself into a bit of trouble, allowing a walk and a hit, but he struck out the side and helped the Braves complete a three-game sweep of the National League West-leading Snakes. The 23-year-old closer has a 1.72 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in 62 2/3 innings this season and has emerged as an elite fantasy option.

Craig Kimbrel notched his 37th save Thursday with a perfect inning against the Giants. Orlando Cabrera popped up to start the ninth before Kimbrel sat down Pablo Sandoval swinging and Aubrey Huff looking. Amazingly, Kimbrel hasn't given up a run since June 11 and sports a ridiculous 96/23 K/BB ratio over 60 2/3 innings. He's already one of the best in the game.

Craig Kimbrel closed the door on Florida's comeback attempt on Monday, striking out Emilio Bonifacio and Alfredo Amezaga to earn his 35th save. The game was in hand to start the bottom of the ninth inning, as the Braves led 8-3. But reliever Scott Proctor retired only one batter while walking two and surrendering a two-run homer. Taking the mount with the tying run in the on-deck circle, Kimbrel made quick work of the Marlins, throwing eight of ten pitches for strikes. In the process, his scoreless streak reached 25 1/3 innings, during which he has given up only six hits and seven walks.

Craig Kimbrel nailed down his 31st save Friday with a perfect ninth inning in a win over the Reds. He struck out Drew Stubbs and Jonny Gomes before getting Ryan Hanigan to foul out in a dominating inning. With 31 saves on the year, Kimbrel has broken the tie between he and Kerry Ligtenberg for the most saves ever for a Braves rookie. The flamethrower hasn't blown an opportunity since early June.

Craig Kimbrel has been named as a replacement to the NL All-Star team. He replaces Matt Cain, who pitched on Sunday, on the roster. The announcement was probably a week late, but we doubt Kimbrel will mind. Kimbrel set a rookie record for saves prior to the All-Star break by notching 28. He posted a 2.35 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 70/18 K/BB rate over 46 innings in a largely dominant first half. Kimbrel hasn't allowed a run since June 11 and has corrected his early-season control issues.

Craig Kimbrel set a rookie record for saves prior to the All-Star break by picking up No. 27 against the Rockies on Thursday. Kimbrel pitched a perfect ninth for his 16th save in his last 17 chances. Next up for him is Todd Worrell's NL rookie record of 36 saves, established back in 1986. Neftali Feliz holds the major league record after saving 40 games last year.

With two on and zero out in the top of the ninth inning on Monday, Craig Kimbrel struck out the side, preserving a 2-0 Braves win over the Blue Jays at home. Tim Hudson allowed just one hit through the first eight innings, but allowed the first two batters he faced to reach base in the ninth, giving way to Kimbrel. He mowed down the heart of the Blue Jays order, fanning Corey Patterson swinging, Jose Bautista looking and Adam Lind swinging. The save was Kimbrel's second in two days after he made four straight appearances in non-save situations.
