Craig Kimbrel has registered a 1.15 ERA, 0.64 WHIP and 83/12 K/BB ratio through 47 innings this season. Kimbrel is also 31-for-33 in save opportunities. He hasn't allowed an earned run since July 20 and is a legitimate contender for the National League Cy Young Award.

Craig Kimbrel set down the Phillies in order on Saturday, including a pair of strikeouts, picking up his 24th save of the season in the process. He's been nothing short of amazing to this point in the season, converting 23-of-24 save chances while posting a 1.41 ERA and ridiculous 54/10 K/BB ratio in 32 innings of work.

Craig Kimbrel earned his 18th save of the season, retiring the Blue Jays in order on Saturday. He only needed 12 pitches to set down the three hitters he faced, including a strikeout. He's now converted 18-of-19 save chances for the year and has firmly established himself as one of the most dominating closers in the league. His 1.57 ERA and 37/10 K/BB ratio remain elite, and make Kimbrel well worth the hefty price paid to acquire his services on draft day.

Craig Kimbrel is 10-for-11 in save conversions this year and has posted a 15.8 K/9 ratio. Kimbrel struck out two Cubs in a save Tuesday, putting him even closer to Kenley Jensen's record 16.1 K/9 rate, set last season. Even more ludicrous? Kimbrel's career K/9, over three seasons, is 15.4. He's fantasy's best closer. Frankly, there isn't much debate. And with all the closer turnover we've had this season -- 15 changes since January 20, according to ESPN's Tristan Cockcroft -- Kimbrel has easily justified whatever exorbitant price needed to acquire his services on draft night.

Craig Kimbrel finally got his first save chance of the season against the Astros on Friday, but managed to escape trouble and get the job done. Kimbrel allowed the first two hitters to reach base, before inducing a double play ground ball from Chris Johnson, and then getting Chris Snyder on a weak bounce out. Kimbrel remains one of the top closers in the game and should post strong numbers across the board in 2012.

Craig Kimbrel was perfect for an inning out of the pen against the Yankees on Wednesday. Still dominant, Kimbrel has allowed just one hit in eight scoreless innings this spring. He has walked five, but that's par for the course.

Craig Kimbrel fanned two batters in a scoreless frame Tuesday against Detroit That gives the 23-year-old seven K's in six scoreless innings this spring. He also has yielded one hit and five walks. Kimbrel looks ready to duplicate, or even build upon, last season's eye-popping numbers.

Both Craig Kimbrel and Jonny Venters did less throwing than normal over the offseason, instead focusing more on strength and conditioning. Venters appeared in a league-leading 85 games last year, while Kimbrel finished tied for second with 79 appearances. After appearing to wear down late in the year, both pitchers limited their winter throwing and their focus in spring training will be to prepare for the season, rather than, as Venters put it, come out "guns blazing." Venters also gained "about seven pounds" of muscle over the winter, calling it "probably the best offseason I've ever had really."

He also saved 46 games in 54 opportunities. Braves first baseman Freddie Freeman finished second in the balloting and Phillies starter Vance Worley came in third.

Craig Kimbrel blew his first save since June 8 on Friday, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning of Atlanta's 10-inning loss in St. Louis. Kimbrel loaded the bases for Albert Pujols, who promptly roped a two-run single down the right-field line. The rookie right-hander had not allowed a run in a staggering 35 2/3 innings over his past 38 appearances going back to June 11. It would be a crime if anyone else took home the National League's Rookie of the Year award.
