McHugh gave up four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six over seven innings against the Astros on Tuesday en route to notching his sixth win of the season. After giving up four runs in the second inning McHugh settled down and retired 15 of the last 16 batters he faced, with the lone baserunner coming on a walk to Travis Snider. The 27-year-old righty has been much less fortunate on balls in play this year (.317 BABIP) compared to 2014 (.259 BABIP) and his HR/FB rate has also spiked from 9.5 percent to 13.1 percent. While McHugh should not be expected to match the 2.73 ERA he posted last season, he is probably several ticks better than he has shown so far in 2015.

McHugh allowed four runs on nine hits with no walks and five strikeouts over six innings Wednesday, but took no decision in Houston's 5-4 loss to Baltimore. Baltimore got to McHugh in the fourth inning with five straight hits, including back-to-back home runs from Chris Davis and Steve Pearce. McHugh exited after the sixth inning with the Astros trailing 4-1, and while he didn't walk any batters, he labored through much of the game, throwing only 62 of his 101 pitches for strikes. He'll carry a 4.24 ERA into his next scheduled start Tuesday against the O's.

McHugh allowed three runs on nine hits, walking one and striking out two over seven innings of a 6-2 loss to the Tigers on Friday night. McHugh (5-2, 4.06 ERA) made just one real mistake in the game, but it was a big one, serving up a three-run home run to J.D. Martinez to give Detroit a lead they would never relinquish. After a sparkling season in 2014, McHugh has come back to Earth a bit this year with inconsistent command, and a declining strikeout rate. He remains a decent fantasy option, but he's not likely to completely return to his form from last season.

McHugh suffered his first loss of the season Tuesday, as the Giants tagged him for seven runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 4.2 innings. Through seven starts for the Astros this season, McHugh (4-1) sports a 7.42 K/9, which is down from last year's 9.14 K/9 mark. Things don't get any easier for the 27-year-old as he lines up to face Toronto for his next start Sunday.

McHugh's next start will come Tuesday against the Giants, Jose de Jesus Ortiz of the Houston Chronicle reports. Monday's team off day will allow the Astros to move McHugh up to start Monday on regular rest and slot Brett Oberholtzer (finger) into the rotation Wednesday. That means McHugh is now lined up for a two-start week, with his second outing coming May 17 at home against Toronto.

McHugh held the Angels to two runs on five hits and a walk with seven strikeouts over 7.1 innings Thursday, but took no decision in the Astros' 3-2 win. McHugh (4-0) gave up a solo home run to Mike Trout in the first inning, but pitched well enough to put himself in line for the victory. Houston's offense remained quiet throughout most of the game, however, as the team trailed 2-0 when he exited in the eighth inning. McHugh, who sports a 3.23 ERA and 33:7 K:BB ratio over 39 innings this season, will make his next start at home against San Francisco on Wednesday.

McHugh limited the Padres to three runs on seven hits with no walks and five strikeouts over six innings Monday, but took no decision in the Astros' 9-4 win. McHugh permitted only two infield singles through four frames, but San Diego rallied in the fifth with three runs on four hits in that inning alone. Despite the minor hiccup, the 27-year-old right-hander is proving this season that last year's success was no fluke. Through four starts, McHugh is 3-0 with a 2.92 ERA and 23:4 K:BB over 24.2 innings. He'll make his next start Saturday at home against the Mariners.

McHugh earned his third victory of the season Tuesday after allowing three runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts over seven innings against the Mariners. Seattle put McHugh (3-0) to work early in the game, scoring runs off him in the first, third and fourth innings. He only allowed one base runner from the fifth through seventh innings, however, and the Astros' bats came alive in the top of the eighth inning to put him in line for the win. It wasn't McHugh's sharpest outing, but he'll carry a 2.41 ERA into his next scheduled start at San Diego on Monday.

McHugh improved to 2-0 this season after fanning 11 batters over 5.2 innings against the A's on Wednesday. McHugh gave up one run on six hits with no walks in the game and didn't appear to be limited by the tender finger issue that led to his precautionary removal from his first start of the season. Through two starts, he has a 1.54 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 15:2 K:BB over 11.2 innings. McHugh is likely to make his next start at Seattle on Tuesday.
