Coco Crisp (foot, ankle) might take some swings in the cage Wednesday.
Crisp hasn't played since Saturday due to recurring soreness in his right foot/ankle area, but an MRI on Monday came back negative. Athletics manager Bob Melvin is hopeful that he will be able to return this weekend against the Tigers.

An MRI on Coco Crisp's right foot/ankle came back negative.
The outfielder expects to return to the lineup soon, though he gave no specific target date. Crisp hasn't played since Saturday and has dealt with the ailment for nearly all of this month, but he should return sometime over the weekend.

Coco Crisp (ankle) is out of the Athletics' starting lineup for the fourth straight game Tuesday.
We're still awaiting word about the results of the MRI on his right foot/ankle, but Crisp was seen wearing a walking boot in the clubhouse after Monday's game. Ryan Sweeney will make another start in center field Tuesday night.

Coco Crisp underwent an MRI on his ankle Monday night.
Crisp is not likely to play in the A's three-game series against the Angels. A's manager Doug Melvin is confident Crisp will play again this season, but we'll have a better idea if he's right after the test results are released. Crisp sat out Saturday and Sunday due to a lower leg injury. X-rays were negative, but the speedy outfielder is not able to run at 100 percent. If he receives good news, Crisp could return to Oakland's starting lineup Thursday against the Tigers.

Crisp sat out Saturday and Sunday due to a lower leg injury. X-rays were negative, but the speedy outfielder is not able to run at 100 percent. He'll look to return to Oakland's starting lineup Thursday vs. the Tigers.

Coco Crisp missed Saturday's game and will sit out again Sunday due to his ankle/foot injury.
We presume it's the same ailment that caused Crisp to miss three games over the past week. It's not clear at this point when he'll return to the lineup. The A's outfielder has dealt with an assortment of injuries this season but has managed to swipe a career-high 40 bases.

Coco Crisp swiped his 40th base Wednesday in the win over the Royals.
Crisp is the 10th different Oakland Athletic to swipe 40 bases in a season. Rajai Davis did it in both 2009 and 2010. Before that, Rickey Henderson did it eight times between 1980 and 1998, with Jose Canseco also having his 40/40 season mixed in.

Crisp missed the previous three games with a sore right foot. He'll bat second Wednesday against left-hander Bruce Chen.

Crisp suffered a right foot contusion over the weekend when he was struck by a foul ball. The speedy outfielder is batting .268/.323/.385 with 39 stolen bases.
