Chris Owings went 3-for-4 with an RBI, a run scored, and two stolen bases in Sunday's win over the Dodgers. That's back-to-back three-hit games for Owings since manager Kirk Gibson moved him into the two-spot in the lineup. The two stolen bases give him six in as many attempts on the season and the three hits boost his slash line up to .291/.336/.433.

Inserted into the starting lineup after Aaron Hill was scratched, Chris Owings missed the cycle by a single Saturday against the Dodgers. Owings was scheduled for the night off. Instead, he had the best game of his young career, scoring four times. Since hitting him second worked out so well tonight, it'll be interesting to see if the Diamondbacks put him back there tomorrow. He's mostly been hitting seventh and eighth.

Chris Owings is not in the Diamondbacks starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Dodgers. It's simply a day of rest for the rookie shortstop who has been scuffling at the plate this week. Cliff Pennington will take his place and hit seventh for the Snakes against Clayton Kershaw.

Chris Owings went 2-for-3 with a triple in Sunday's loss to the Phillies. It was the closest the Diamondbacks came to scoring a run on the day, as Owings' first career triple left the D'backs with a runner at third and one out. Pitcher Brandon McCarthy followed with a ground out that didn't get the run home, and Gerardo Parra flied out to end the threat. As the Diamondbacks' primary shortstop, the rookie is hitting an impressive .311/.370/.378 with four stolen bases in the early going.

Chris Owings will bat leadoff Monday against the Cubs. Owings has batted in the bottom-third of the order so far, but Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson is going to test him out of the leadoff spot Monday with left-hander Travis Wood on the hill for Chicago. We're not sure he has the plate discipline to handle it quite yet, but it would certainly make him more interesting from a fantasy perspective.

Chris Owings is not in the Diamondbacks' lineup Thursday. It's just a day off, as Cliff Pennington is taking Owings' spot at shortstop. A.J. Pollock is also getting a breather, with Tony Campana handling center field.

Chris Owings went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 victory over the Giants. So far, so good for Arizona's rookie shortstop. At least in the batter's box, where he's 6-for-13 (.462) over four games. Owings made a critical fielding mistake that won't show up in the box score in the ninth inning Tuesday, overrunning a Hector Sanchez bloop down the left-field line. The would-be second out fell in (scored as a double), giving the Giants second base in a one-run game and leaving D'Backs manager Kirk Gibson shaking his head in the dugout. There will be growing pains, but Owings is a great talent at a premium position. He hit .330/.359/.482 with 104 runs, 12 homers, 81 RBI and 20 stolen bases over 125 games at Triple-A Reno last season.

Chris Owings was told he's made the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster. Owings was told by D'backs manager Kirk Gibson in the dugout during Saturday's Cactus League game. He'd been vying for the starting job with Didi Gregorius, who will be sent to the minors to start the year. Owings hit .330/.359/.482 with 104 runs, 12 homers, 81 RBI and 20 stolen bases over 125 games at Triple-A Reno last season and makes for an intriguing fantasy flyer this year.

Chris Owings went 2-for-3 with a double and a three-run home run as the Diamondbacks routed the Cubs 14-4 on Wednesday. Owings took Chris Rusin deep in the sixth inning for his first homer of the spring. Owings, now hitting .298 on the spring, is a strong favorite to win the starting shortstop job over Didi Gregorius.
