Ron Chimelis of the Springfield Republican reports that the Red Sox have signed left-hander Chris Capuano. It's a one-year, $2.25 million deal, according to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman. Capuano drew surprisingly little interest this winter despite dominant career numbers against left-handed hitters and the ability to both start and relieve. The Red Sox will let him compete for their fifth rotation spot this spring but will likely use him as a swingman (moving between the bullpen and rotation) once the regular season begins. Capuano, 35, boasts a solid 3.91 ERA and 1.286 WHIP in his last 304 major league innings.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Red Sox have made "some progress" with free agent Chris Capuano. Boston is viewing the veteran left-hander as a potential swingman who would work primarily in relief but could also step in for some spot starts. Capuano, 35, posted a 3.91 ERA and 1.286 WHIP in 304 innings during his two-year run (2012-2013) with the Dodgers. He has held left-handed batters to a .231/.288/.331 slash line in his nine-year major league career. The Mariners are also known to have interest.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox are "talking" to Chris Capuano. Boston is looking to replenish some rotation depth after Ryan Dempster decided not to pitch this season, and Capuano would be a nice fit. The left-hander could possibly slide in at the end of the rotation or be used in a swingman role. Capuano, who was born in Massachusetts, has been seeking a two-year deal this winter.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Mariners are in talks with free agent left-hander Chris Capuano. Capuano has been seeking a two-year deal and Heyman hears that there may be a difference of opinion on the price, but talks are ongoing. The White Sox, Marlins, and Dodgers have also been linked to the veteran left-hander in recent days.

Chris Cotillo of MLB Daily Dish reports that the White Sox, Marlins, Dodgers and Mariners are among the teams interested in free agent left-hander Chris Capuano. One of the reasons that the veteran southpaw hasn't reached a deal yet is that his asking price is reportedly still very high. If he can land a rotation spot someplace, he has enough ability to be mixed-league worthy.

The Orioles are talking with Joe Saunders and Chris Capuano, a source tells Jon Morosi of FOX Sports. The O's have been in talks with numerous free agent pitchers this offseason, and it appears they've turned their attention to southpaws in Capuano and Saunders. Capuano, 35, had a 4.26 ERA in 105 2/3 innings with the Dodgers last season, and he recently lowered his asking price from two years to looking for a one-year deal. The Orioles are likely to add at least one more starter before Opening Day.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that Chris Capuano has lowered his asking price from two years to one year. Capuano has managed to stay relatively healthy over the last three seasons (though he did make a couple trips to the DL last year), but it's not a surprise that he wasn't able to find someone willing to give him a multi-year deal. The left-hander posted a 4.26 ERA and 81/24 K/BB ratio in 105 2/3 innings last season with the Dodgers.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that free agent left-hander Chris Capuano is looking for a two-year contract. Capuano hasn't found a taker yet, but he's willing to wait for the right situation to develop. The 35-year-old left-hander posted a 4.26 ERA and 81/24 K/BB ratio in 105 2/3 innings last season with the Dodgers.

Dodgers declined LHP Chris Capuano's $6 million mutual option for 2014. Capuano will receive a $1 million buyout and test the open market. The 35-year-old left-hander posted a 4.26 ERA and 81/24 K/BB ratio in 105 2/3 innings this season. He should draw interest as a backend starter or a swingman in the bullpen.

Chris Capuano will throw a bullpen session on Friday to remain sharp, in the hope that he'll be added to the World Series roster should the Dodgers advance past the Cardinals in the NLCS. Capuano was on the roster for the first round of the playoffs, but was replaced by Edinson Volquez before the start of the NLCS. Capuano tossed three scoreless and hitless innings in a victory over the Braves during his only appearance in the NLDS.
