According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Red Sox have made "some progress" with free agent Chris Capuano. Boston is viewing the veteran left-hander as a potential swingman who would work primarily in relief but could also step in for some spot starts. Capuano, 35, posted a 3.91 ERA and 1.286 WHIP in 304 innings during his two-year run (2012-2013) with the Dodgers. He has held left-handed batters to a .231/.288/.331 slash line in his nine-year major league career. The Mariners are also known to have interest.
