Chipper Jones felt some relief after having his left knee drained on Friday. Jones was scratched from Friday's lineup with fluid in his surgically-repaired knee. He's doubtful to play Saturday, but could return to the lineup on Sunday.

In his first game off the disabled list, Chipper Jones went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run leading the Braves to a 6-4 win over the Astros on Tuesday. Chipper provided a spark to the Braves offensive attack singling in the second inning and connecting on a two-run shot off of Kyle Weiland in the third inning. He managed to return from his injury quicker than anticipated and played a key role in the Braves first win of the season. He's always been able to post strong numbers while he's healthy, so as long as he's in the lineup make sure that he's in yours.

Chipper Jones (knee) could be activated from the disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Astros. Jones felt good after taking soft-toss swings from both sides of the plate and participating in regular batting practice. The original goal was for Jones to be ready for the Braves' home opener on Friday, but he hasn't had any setbacks following arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. We should have something more definitive Tuesday.

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said Chipper Jones (knee) will "definitely" be ready to return by Friday, and "maybe even sooner than that." Friday is the Braves' home opener, and Jones, who is recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee, has set that as a goal from the beginning. He took about 15 swings and ran the bases Friday, saying afterwards that he felt "real good." Gonzalez said it's possible Chipper could be used as a pinch-hitter the first couple games if he's not quite ready to play third base.

Chipper Jones faced live pitching Friday for the first time since undergoing knee surgery on March 26 and said he felt "real good." Jones believes he "will be ready physically" by Tuesday, when he is eligible to come off the disabled list. However, he understands that he may need a couple more days to get his timing down. It's probably more realistic that he returns for the Braves' home opener on April 13.

Chipper Jones said Thursday that his surgically-repaired left knee still feels "heavy." He's hoping it will feel better when he tests it out in a workout at Citi Field against Randall Delgado and Chad Durbin Friday. Jones is eligible to come of the disabled list on April 10, and it's possible he'll be ready then. He's set an unofficial target as the April 13 home opener, though.

Chipper Jones (knee) is scheduled to face live pitching during an optional workout Friday. Jones underwent arthroscopic surgery on March 26 to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee. He's eligible to come off the disabled list as soon as April 10, though the Braves' home opener on April 13 may be more realistic. Martin Prado and Juan Francisco will split third base duties until he's ready.

Braves placed 3B Chipper Jones on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26, with a meniscus tear in his left knee. Jones underwent successful surgery on the knee earlier this week. He could be ready for activation on April 13 for the team's home opener. Until then, Martin Prado will handle third base, while Eric Hinske and Matt Diaz platoon in left field.
