Another impressive feat for the surging veteran, who has battled back since enduring a mid-season lull. He has been one of baseball's hottest hitter since July 1, batting 33-for-91 (.363) with seven homers. In fact, Jones has hit safely in 20 of the 24 games he's started during that span.

Chipper Jones homered and doubled to help the Braves edge the Mets 6-5 in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. Batting second for the first time in 15 years, Chipper turned in his third straight multihit game. It's a good spot for him given the Braves' current lineup. He's hitting .283/.356/.486 for the season, compared to .264/.310/.388 for former No. 2 hitter Martin Prado.

Chipper Jones will bat second in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday against the Mets. This is just his fifth career start out of the No. 2 spot and his first since 1996. That's right. The Braves have a lousy .230/.285/.360 batting line out of the second spot in the order this season, so it's worth a shot.

Chipper Jones hit a solo home run in Atlanta's loss to the Cubs on Wednesday. The bomb was his third in six games. Now batting .281 on the season, Chipper is hitting .407 to go along with four home runs and 11 RBI through his first 15 games of August.

Chipper Jones belted a solo homer for the only run scored in Thursday's win over the Giants. Tim Lincecum didn't make many mistakes, but he did leave a ball up and over the plate to kick off the bottom of the fifth inning, and Chipper took advantage. Jones also doubled off Lincecum in his next at-bat. The likely future Hall of Famer has battled his usual assortment of injuries this season but has hit pretty well when healthy, batting .271/.345/.455 with 11 homers and 55 RBI.

Chipper Jones returned to action on Tuesday August 16.

Chipper Jones underwent an MRI on his left knee Monday, which showed no structural damage. Jones admitted that he was worried after tweaking the knee while running to first base during Sunday's game. It is the same knee that required season-ending surgery last year. While Jones is out of the lineup Monday, he is considered day-to-day.
