Chipper Jones delivered a three-run bomb with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to give the Braves an 8-7 win over the Phillies on Sunday. Jones drove a Jonathan Papelbon fastball well out to right center for his 14th homer of the year, and the Braves rallied from four back with two outs in the ninth to end their three-game losing streak. Chipper hit his second walkoff homer of the year, both coming against the Phillies. Prior to his game-ender on May 2, he hadn't had a walkoff homer since 2006.

Chipper Jones is dealing with a left oblique injury. Jones was held out of the lineup for the second straight game Sunday, and should be considered day-to-day. The injury isn't a high-level concern, and likely won't require an extended absence. In addition to the oblique, Jones is working through a lower back issue.

Chipper Jones is not in Tuesday's lineup against the Nationals. No word on the reason for his absence, but it's possible he's just giving his knees a break after playing all 13 innings on Monday night. Juan Francisco will start at the hot corner.

Chipper Jones (knee) went 1-for-5 with a walk Monday in his return to the lineup. Jones sat out Sunday's game in order to give his knees a break. The future Hall of Famer is hitting .311/.390/.519 with 13 homers and a .910 OPS in 79 games played this year.

Chipper Jones returned to action on Monday August 20.

Chipper Jones is not in the Braves' lineup Sunday. Jones tweeted the news Saturday night, saying that his knees were "killing" him. The future Hall of Famer requires regular rest for his knees and other various maladies, but he should be back in there in a day or two.

Chipper Jones is expected to get the day off Monday. Jones played through some soreness this weekend in New York and the Braves didn't arrive back in Atlanta until Monday morning after Sunday night's loss to the Mets. Look for Martin Prado to start at third base on Monday night vs. the Padres with Reed Johnson in left field.

Chipper Jones returned to action on Saturday August 11.

Chipper Jones was scratched from Friday's lineup with back stiffness. It's safe to call him day-to-day for now. Juan Francisco will start in his place at the hot corner.

Chipper Jones still intends to retire after this season. Jones says he won't reconsider his decision. Fans will certainly support his anti-Favre stance, but the veteran infielder wouldn't be blamed if he was having second thoughts about hanging it up. Jones has posted an elite .320/.394/.513 slash line, with an OPS mere points behind behemoths such as Prince Fielder and Josh Hamilton. "I told my agent [B.B. Abbott] in spring training," Jones said. "He told me, 'You can't back-track on this [retirement decision]. If you've got 20 homers and you're hitting .300 and you've got 80 or 90 RBIs, you can't second-guess yourself.' And I said, well, I'm going to have those numbers, and I'm ready to leave."
