FoxSports.com's Jon Morosi writes that the Tigers are interested in Chase Headley. Detroit has made no headway in trade talks with the Padres. The Padres have indicated that they are reluctant to deal Headley, but the team is coming off a 91-loss season and has a new general manager in Josh Byrnes. The decision will likely come down to whether Logan Forsythe will need additional time at Class AAA before he's ready for an everyday job. Forsythe posted a .568 OPS in 150 major league at-bats this year.

FoxSports.com's Jon Morosi speculates that Chase Headley could be a trade candidate this offseason. The Padres have indicated that they will be reluctant to move Headley, but the team is coming off a 91-loss season and has a new general manager in Josh Byrnes. The decision will likely come down to whether the 24-year-old Logan Forsythe will need additional time at Class AAA before he's ready for the everyday job. Forsythe posted a .568 OPS in 150 major league at-bats this year.

Chase Headley (finger) hopes to be back with the Padres on Monday. He had originally been targeting the final homestand of the season, but evidently he's progressing quicker than expected. Headley will hit on Saturday, Sunday and Monday at the team's instructional league in Arizona before joining the Pads in Denver later that day. He's been out since August 6 due to a fractured left pinkie finger.

Chase Headley (finger) will see some live pitching on Saturday. Headley, who has been out since August 6 due to a fractured left pinkie finger, is still hoping to make it back during the final homestand of the season. If he does make it back, he would be limited to hitting from the left side of the plate.

Chase Headley (finger) hopes to play during the final homestand of the season, which begins on September 23. Headley hasn't played since August 6 due to a fractured left pinkie finger. He took batting practice again Tuesday and could receive medical clearance as soon as this weekend. However, because of the nature of the injury, Headley will only hit left-handed if he returns this season.

Chase Headley (finger) hopes to return to the lineup by September 14 or 15. Headley, who has been out since early August, will resume baseball-related activities soon. He was batting .292/.380/.407 with four homers and 13 steals before the injury. "The finger feels great," he said. "My forearm is a little weak from the cast."

Chase Headley is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a fractured left pinky finger. And the Padres' lineup just got that much easier for National League pitchers to navigate. Headley was examined Monday in San Diego by hand specialist Dr. Jake Hamer, who confirmed the initial diagnosis of the injury. The 27-year-old will now be sidelined until at least the early part of September, which means plenty of at-bats for the likes of Logan Forsythe, Alberto Gonzalez and James Darnell at the hot corner.

Padres placed 3B Chase Headley on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 7 with a fractured left pinky finger. Headley suffered the injury during Saturday's game and has been sent back to San Diego for further evaluation. Logan Forsythe, Alberto Gonzalez and the newly-recalled James Darnell should share playing time at the hot corner during his absence.
