Padres manager Bud Black said Chase Headley (calf) might need an MRI.
"Chase is very doubtful to play (Saturday) and will possibly have an MRI," said Black. Headley actually hurt himself during warmups Friday, but he taped up his right calf and tried to play through the ailment before leaving in the first inning. "We didn't want to turn a minor thing into a major thing," Headley said. "It might be a couple days; it might be a two-week thing. There's no question in my mind, if I busted out of the (batter's) box that it was going to be a lot worse than it was."

Updating a previous item, Chase Headley exited Friday's game against the Giants with a strained right calf.
Interesting. Headley left Thursday's game with a left ankle contusion, so this is a completely different injury. It's not known how the injury took place, as he was not involved in a play on defense in the top of the first inning. We should learn more about his status after the game.

Chase Headley (shoulder) returned to the lineup Sunday by going 1-for-3 with an RBI in a win over the Braves.
Headley ended up missing just two games. He's safe to get back in all lineups, but owners shouldn't be expecting the formerly highly touted prospect to show much pop. He has just 13 homers in his last 867 at-bats.

Chase Headley (shoulder) is feeling much better and "could be back in the lineup Sunday," according to Padres manager Bud Black.
Headley took grounders Saturday without any issues. Although Black left open the possibility that his third baseman could start Sunday, he would prefer to hold him out one more day before penciling his name into Monday's lineup.

Chase Headley (shoulder) doesn't expect to need a stint on the disabled list.
Headley on Wednesday aggravated a shoulder injury that dates back to the series against the Nationals earlier this month. He's considered day-to-day for the time being, though that could change if he doesn't see improvement over the weekend.

Chase Headley is not in Friday's lineup against the Braves.
Headley is batting .474 (18-for-38) over his last nine games, so his absence is a little odd. We'll pass along an update when available. Alberto Gonzalez will make the start at the hot corner Friday and bat eighth against right-hander Derek Lowe.
