Chase Headley extended his hitting streak to 11 games Monday, going 2-for-4 with an RBI double in a win over the Marlins. Headley got off to a bit of a slow start after returning from the disabled list, but he's been red-hot of late, batting .381 with two longballs and seven RBI during his hitting streak. He'll continue to be a nice fantasy option at the hot corner.

Chase Headley told MLB.com's Corey Brock that he will not negotiate a contract extension during the season. Padres executive chairman Ron Fowler said Wednesday that he and his front office brethren were preparing "the largest offer" in club history for Headley with plans to officially propose it to the third baseman "before midseason." But Headley, who is currently under organizational control through 2014, wants no part. "We made it abundantly clear [before] that we didn't want to talk about it during the season," the 28-year-old told Brock on Thursday morning.

The Padres are planning to offer Chase Headley an extension before the middle of the 2013 regular season. "We will do an offer that will be the largest offer we've ever made to a player in San Diego history," Padres executive chairman Ron Fowler said Wednesday, "and I think it will be very close to some of the numbers I read in the press." Headley is arbitration-eligible for the final time in 2014. He'll be a free agent heading into the 2015 season if a deal cannot be struck.

Chase Headley hit his third home run of the season but the Padres lost to the Cubs on Wednesday. Headley had two of the three hits allowed on the evening by Cubs starter Scott Feldman, including the big fly in the ninth inning. Headley now has three home runs in 13 games since returning from the disabled list. The third baseman had a career-high 31 jacks in 2012.

Chase Headley went 3-for-3 with two doubles and a home run in Sunday's over the Giants. Headley, Nick Hundley and Alexi Amarista all homered off Ryan Vogelsong. It was a long overdue performance from Headley, who hasn't looked very good since returning from the DL. He'll look to carry his momentum into next week in a three-game series with the Cubs.

Chase Headley hit his first home run of the season Friday against the Giants. Headley actually drove in both runs for the Padres on the night, as he had a sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning. He has hit safely in both games since coming off the disabled list. We're skeptical about whether he'll be able to match the power he showed last season, but the new dimensions at PETCO Park will help his chances.

Padres activated 3B Chase Headley from the 15-day disabled list. Headley missed the first 14 games of the season with a fracture in the top of his left thumb. He'll face Clayton Kershaw in his first game back, but he's a must-start in fantasy leagues. Jedd Gyorko will now serve as the Padres' primary second baseman.

Chase Headley (thumb) is scheduled to return from the disabled list on Wednesday. Some reports had suggested that Headley might be activated on Tuesday, but he's going to play in one final rehab game instead. The 28-year-old third baseman will be a must-start in fantasy leagues once he is activated.

Chase Headley (thumb) could be activated from the disabled list as soon as Tuesday. Headley went 1-for-3 with a double in his first rehab game Friday, and his thumb felt fine on a broken-bat jam shot and a ball that went off the end of his bat. The third baseman said the appearance "couldn't have gone better." Headley needs to test out the thumb on defense, which he will do on Sunday and likely Monday. If he passes that test, he could be in the lineup on Tuesday against the Dodgers.

Chase Headley (thumb) went 1-for-3 with a double in his first rehab game with High-A Lake Elsinore on Friday. Headley served as the designated hitter in the game, as his thumb is still a little sore when he closes his glove, so isn't ready to play the field just yet. It's uncertain how many games he'll need on his rehab assignment, but all signs point to him returning to the Padres' lineup in a week or so.
