d'Arnaud signed a minor league contract with the Braves that includes an invitation to attend spring training.
EDGE Analysis
d'Arnaud spent last year in the Phillies organization, playing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley prior to a September call-up. He was a decent hitter, batting .268 with five home runs and 35 RBI, but was outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster after the season was over. The 28-year-old will look to find a spot as a utility infielder during spring training.

D'Arnaud elected free agency.
EDGE Analysis
The Phillies bumped d'Arnaud from their 40-man roster days after the regular season ended, but he refused his outright assignment and hit the open market. A minor league deal with a spring training invite seems reasonable given his experience.

D'Arnaud was outrighted off the Phillies' 40-man roster Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Despite a lackluster season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, d'Arnaud earned a September callup with the Phillies, marking the fourth time in the last five seasons in which he's seen major league time. D'Arnaud will be 29 by the time spring training rolls around, and it seems unlikely he will shed the Quad-A label.

D'Arnaud's contract was selected by the Phillies on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
D'Arnaud injured missed the cut for the Phillies out of spring training, and has spent the entire season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Despite batting just .268/.317/.354 with five home runs this season, he will receive a promotion that should last through the remainder of the regular season. It should serve as a brief audition for the 2016 season, though he d'Arnaud probably won't see action on a consistent basis.

D'Arnaud was re-assigned to minor league camp Wednesday. D'Arnaud was fighting for a major league roster spot after signing with the Phillies in November, but a rough spring will result in the 28-year-old starting the season in the minors. The shortstop sported a .250/.313/.356 slash line in 118 Triple-A games last season, and could be a candidate to get a call up to the parent club if they find themselves in need of middle infield depth.

D'Arnaud's contract was selected by the Pirates on Tuesday. D'Arnaud will join the Pirates as a September call-up and will provide the infield and outfield with some extra depth. He won't take on an everyday role, but could receive some spot starts given his versatility and will likely contribute off the bench.

Chase d'Arnaud left Wednesday's game against the Red Sox after taking a line drive off his cheek. d'Arnaud, playing center field for some reason, dived for a liner and caught it -- with his right cheekbone. He'll have a black eye at the very least, and the Pirates will likely order an X-ray in the coming days to make sure nothing is broken.
