The California native is leading the team in batting average and is second in on-base percentage, boasting a slash line of .309/.362/.402 to go along with with three RBI and four stolen bases through 28 games this season.

D'Arnaud went 3-for-5 with a double, an RBI and a run in a 4-2 road win against the Padres on Wednesday.

If you happened to make a preseason bet on which of the d'Arnaud brothers -- Chase and Travis -- would hold more fantasy value through the first two months of 2016, whoever took the underdog has won running away. Indeed, while Travis struggled to a .196 average before going on the DL, Chase has stunningly hit .345 over his first 84 MLB at-bats of the season. That's quite the improvement after he was on the verge of washing out of the majors while with the Phillies last year. That said, d'Arnaud has a distinctly unimpressive track record with the bat and isn't a good bet to keep this up. His calling card is his speed -- the 29-year-old infielder is only a career .261/.331/.384 hitter in the minors, but has exceeded 20 steals six times.

D'Arnaud singled off Giants' starter Madison Bumgarner in his first two at-bats and finished the day 2-for-4. His two hits made up half of the Braves total hits for the day.

In the midst of a rebuilding era, the Braves may have stumbled across something with d'Arnaud. The team signed him as a free agent in November and called him up on May 2. Although the sample size is admittedly small, anything productive stands out in MLB's worst lineup, and the 29-year-old has certainly stood out since joining the club. He has six multi-hit games in his last 13, and has gotten on base in 12 of his 14 starts. D'Arnaud is slashing .351/.431/.474 through 57 at-bats while walking eight times, swiping a couple bags and notching five double and a triple.

D'Arnaud was scratched from Saturday's lineup after being involved in a minor car accident on his way to the stadium, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan in Atlanta reports.

D'Arnadu walked away from the fender bender unharmed, but the Braves opted to give him the day off anyway. He'll be replaced at shortstop by Daniel Castro, who will bat eighth in the order. Expect d'Arnaud to return to availability Sunday.

He's slashing .361/.439/.528, but went without a hit during his last game against the Phillies. D'Arnaud will sit out Tuesday in favor of Gordon Beckham at third base and Erick Aybar at shortstop.

He's slashed an outstanding .394/.459/.576 to date in 33 major league at-bats, although he's yet to provide a homer or RBI. However, he's certainly shown a propensity fo getting on base so far, which is affording him a nice dose of playing time.

D'Arnaud is in the lineup and batting seventh for Tuesday's game against the Phillies.

This wills be the 29-year-old's second straight start for the Braves. He went 1-for-5 with a strikeout Sunday against Arizona.

The Braves decided to perform a slew of moves Monday, and d'Arnaud was on the good side of things as he received a call to the big leagues. He likely won't get too much playing time, but he'll be one of the first infield options off the bench now that Jace Peterson is back in the minor leagues. To make room for d'Arnaud on the 40-man roster, Drew Stubbs was designated for assignment.
