Carlos Quentin (shoulder) is out of the Padres' lineup for the seventh straight game Friday. Quentin hasn't played since last Friday due to a sore left shoulder, but Padres manager Bud Black still thinks he will avoid a stint on the disabled list. Kyle Blanks will start in left field Friday while Jesus Guzman will play first base.

Padres manager Bud Black still thinks Carlos Quentin (shoulder) will avoid the disabled list. Quentin missed a sixth straight start Thursday with a sore left shoulder, but he's feeling much better. "Carlos is doing better, he's feeling better," Black said. "He's getting closer to hitting in the cage. He feels much better, he's doing fine." It sounds like Quentin will likely return over the weekend.

Carlos Quentin (shoulder) is out of the Padres' lineup again Thursday. He's now missed six straight starts with a sore left shoulder. The Padres have maintained that the outfielder is day-to-day, but obviously the disabled list becomes a real possibility the longer this drags on. Chris Denorfia is starting in left field Thursday.

Carlos Quentin (shoulder) is not in the Padres' lineup Sunday. It's the second straight game he's missed due to a sore left shoulder. Quentin missed a game earlier this month after banging the shoulder into the outfield wall, and it appears that it's still giving him trouble. The Padres have given no indication that a DL stint might be required. Mark Kotsay is starting in left field Sunday.

Carlos Quentin was scratched from the lineup on Saturday due to left shoulder discomfort. He felt something after taking a swing during Friday's game, so he got the day off on Saturday to avoid further injury. There's no indication of the severity of the injury, but we'll assume it's day-to-day at this point.

Carlos Quentin is not in the Padres' lineup against the Diamondbacks on Saturday. There doesn't seem to be a health issue, so it's likely just a day off for the outfielder. He's got a .261/.367/.471 line through 51 games this year.
