Rockies manager Jim Tracy indicated Tuesday that Carlos Gonzalez (strep throat) may be held out of the lineup until Wednesday.
CarGo has missed the last three games due to the illness, but said he felt better after taking batting practice and shagging fly balls on Monday. While he hopes to return to the lineup Tuesday, Tracy said he's "not sure we want to do that" and that "it might be another day." Fantasy owners should have a backup plan in mind.

Carlos Gonzalez (strep throat) is out of the lineup for the third straight day Sunday.
CarGo played through the illness Friday, but the Rockies are hopeful he'll get well with the extended rest. We imagine he'll be back in the next or two. Tyler Colvin will continue to take his place in left field.

Carlos Gonzalez led the way in Colorado's 17-8 rout of the Giants Wednesday, going 3-for-5 with a pair of triples, four RBI, four runs scored and a walk.
Both three-baggers came against Giants ace Tim Lincecum. Batting .176/.176/.294 coming into the evening, CarGo is now sporting a much more agreeable .273/.304/.545 triple slash. He's yet to homer or steal a base, however. Gonzalez hit just .228/.277/.304 last April before batting .311/.383/.578 in 441 plate appearances after May 1.

It was never a major concern in Rockies camp. CarGo will open the regular season as Colorado's left fielder.

Carlos Gonzalez was scratched from Sunday's lineup because he was feeling ill.
He should be back to normal in a few days, so Opening Day shouldn't be in question. CarGo is a borderline first-round pick in fantasy leagues this season.

According to the Denver Post, Carlos Gonzalez reported to spring training heavier and stronger after adding 20 pounds of muscle this offseason.
Gonzalez plans to lose 10 pounds in spring training, but was reportedly ''launching missiles'' in batting practice. Coming off an injury-plagued season with multiple injuries, he remains be one of the top outfielders in the National League if he can stay healthy.

Carlos Gonzalez says he's lighter and stronger following an offseason workout routine that was much better than last year's.
CarGo felt he got distracted last offseason while contract extension talks between the team and his representatives were going on. "There's no comparison," he said. "I feel like I did going into the 2010 season. I am hungry." Gonzalez also said he prefers to stay in left field this year rather than bounce around to all three outfield positions. "The best thing that can happen to me is Dexter (Fowler) playing 162 games," he said. "I will be prepared to play all three positions, but it's better if I stay in one spot."
