Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said Friday that he expects Correa (side) to land on the injured list, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Correa had to exit Friday's loss to the Tigers early after suffering a right oblique strain during his at-bat in the third inning. The Twins will likely hold off on making any decisions until the infielder's MRI results come back, but Baldelli's words suggest Correa's odds of avoiding the IL are slim. Willi Castro entered Friday's game as the replacement shortstop and will likely remain there while Correa is out, opening up third base for Kyle Farmer or Jose Miranda.

Correa was removed from Friday's game against the Tigers due to a right oblique strain, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Correa was grabbing at his right side after striking out in the top of the third inning and was replaced at shortstop by Willi Castro as the Twins took the field in the bottom half of the frame. The severity of the 29-year-old's injury remains unclear, but Kyle Farmer may see increased reps at shortstop should Correa's oblique force him onto the injured list.

Correa played through plantar fasciitis in his left foot for most of last season but said he was pain-free as spring training began, and he's looked sharp in the field. Correa said over the weekend at the TwinsFest fan event that he "started turning the curve" with the recovery from his left foot injury in mid- to late-December, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Correa played through plantar fasciitis in his foot for the bulk of the 2023 season and didn't do any running or sprinting early on in the offseason. He admitted that the recovery "took longer than expected," but he's running, sprinting and hitting without issue now and has declared himself ready to go for spring training. Correa slashed just .230/.312/.399 with 18 home runs and 65 RBIs in 580 plate appearances last season while battling through the nagging foot issue starting in mid-May. Plantar fasciitis is an injury that can flare up again, which is worrisome, but Correa should be in line for a bounce-back 2024 campaign if he can stay healthy.

Correa went 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBI and one walk in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Astros in Game 2 of the ALDS.
EDGE Analysis
The star shortstop was an RBI machine in this contest, accounting for half of his team's runs to help tie the series. Correa was preparing himself for a postseason mentality at the end of the regular season, finishing the year with an .840 OPS across 15 games in September, his best mark of any month. That success has translated into October, as he now is slashing .533/.588/.733 across four games this postseason and has also contributed four RBI.

EDGE Analysis
Correa was able to remain the game after taking a 99-mph Jordan Romano fastball off his hand in the eighth inning. Correa said after the game that he's "good to go," so it seems likely he'll be able to suit up for Minnesota's AL Divisional Series matchup against Houston.

Correa (foot) told reporters Monday that he's ready to go for the American League Wild Card Series against the Blue Jays, Bobby Nightengale of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Correa hasn't played for the Twins in two weeks due to a flare-up with the plantar fasciitis in his left foot. He's been participating in simulated games in Minneapolis, though, and says his foot is feeling better. Correa batted only .230/.312/.399 for Minnesota this season while battling through the nagging foot issue, but he's certainly capable of providing a big boost in the playoffs, if healthy.
