Carrasco will remain with the Mets after going unclaimed ahead of Thursday's waiver deadline, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco drew no interest from other teams after being placed on waivers by the Mets on Tuesday. There's a still a chunk of money remaining on his $14 million salary for 2023 and he's posted a rough 6.80 ERA and 1.70 WHIP across 90 innings (20 starts) this season with New York. The 36-year-old right-hander is set to become a free agent in November.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said that Carrasco will be available out of the bullpen for Wednesday's game against the Rangers, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Showalter's comments come one day after Carrasco was placed on waivers, but he'll remain active and available for the Mets until another team claims him. Given that Carrasco is owed the money remaining on his $14 million salary for 2023 and has pitched to a 6.80 ERA and 1.70 WHIP in 90 innings this season, he may not attract much interest, even for pitching-needy clubs in playoff contention. Showalter hasn't clarified whether Carrasco's move to the bullpen is a permanent one, so the veteran right-hander could conceivably make a start this weekend versus Seattle if he doesn't get claimed and if he isn't needed in relief Wednesday.

The Mets placed Carrasco on waivers Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco can be scooped up by another team with a simple waiver claim, if that team is willing to cover what remains of his $14 million salary for the 2023 season. The veteran right-hander has struggled to a 6.80 ERA and 66:38 K:BB through 90 innings (20 starts) in his age-36 campaign.

Carrasco (3-8) took the loss against the Angels on Saturday, allowing five runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out one batter over 1.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco didn't have a great first inning, but he escaped having yielded just one run. Things got much worse for him in the second, when the Angels racked up five hits -- including two doubles, a triple and a homer -- and scored four runs before he could get three outs. Carrasco was pulled having gone a season-low 1.2 frames, and this was the eighth time on the campaign he's given up at least five runs in an outing. The veteran's season ERA now stands at an unsightly 6.80, and it's even worse at 10.24 over 29 innings since the All-Star break.

Carrasco (3-9) took the loss Sunday against the Cardinals after allowing three runs on nine hits and no walks while striking out three in four innings.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco got through four innings allowing just one run but gave up a double to Alec Burleson and a homer to Paul Goldschmidt to open up the fifth which abruptly ended his day. Sunday was the second straight start Carrasco has failed to reach five innings and his fifth overall over his last seven starts. Since blanking the Diamondbacks over eight innings July 6, Carrasco has given up 31 runs (29 earned) in 27.1 innings, which is good for a 9.22 ERA to go with a 2.16 WHIP. He'll try to turn things around in his next start when the Angels come to town this coming weekend.

Carrasco did not factor into the decision Monday, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks over three innings in a 7-2 win over the Pirates. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco's now allowed two runs in each of his last two starts after struggling to a 12.33 ERA over his previous four outings. However, the veteran right-hander only made it through three innings Monday after throwing 88 pitches. Overall, Carrasco is 3-6 with a 6.40 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 62:38 K:BB across 18 starts (84.1 innings) this season. He's currently lined up to face the Cardinals on the road in his next start.

Carrasco did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks over five innings against the Cubs. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Outside of a Cody Bellinger solo shot in the fourth inning and a run-scoring double by Yan Gomes in the fifth, Carrasco pitched well Tuesday and left the game with the score tied 2-2. The veteran hurler struggled in his previous four outings, allowing 21 earned runs in 15.1 innings with just nine strikeouts during that stretch. Carrasco is projected to face a tough Atlanta lineup over the weekend.

Carrasco (3-6) took the loss Thursday, allowing six runs on eight hits and one walk over six innings against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco allowed one run in the first inning but really began to struggle with his command in the third, when he gave up a leadoff single, threw a wild pitch and then surrendered a homer to Bobby Witt. He would give up another three runs in the seventh after allowing back-to-back singles to open the frame, followed by a three-run shot from Drew Waters. The 36-year-old right-hander has now allowed six runs in back-to-back starts and at least four runs in four straight. He also failed to record a strikeout Thursday for the first time this season.

Carrasco (3-5) took the loss Saturday as the Mets were downed 11-6 by the Nationals, coughing up eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and a walk over 2.1 innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
It was another early exit for the veteran right-hander, who has thrown only 9.1 innings over his last three starts while getting hammered for 24 hits and 15 runs. The Mets are cleaning house at the trade deadline, and Carrasco is in the final year of his contract, but it's hard to imagine a contender showing much interest in the 36-year-old given his 6.40 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 52:32 K:BB through 70.1 innings on the season. If he remains with the club past Tuesday, his next start would likely come next weekend in Baltimore.

Carrasco (3-4) yielded five runs on 10 hits and two walks over 2.1 innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against Boston.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox caught fire in the third inning, poking six straight hits against Carrasco and forcing him out of the game after just 58 pitches. In his final three starts before the All-Star break, he gave up just four runs in 17 frames. However, he's been charged with nine runs in seven innings since then. The veteran righty has watched his season ERA balloon to 5.82 with a 50:31 K:BB through 14 starts. Carrasco's next outing is currently lined up to be at home against the Nationals.
