The Guardians designated Carrasco (hip) for assignment Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco is in the middle of rehabbing an injured hip that he suffered in the first half of August. He had just began a rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Akron, allowing two runs in three innings. The 37-year-old's struggles in 2024, hip injury and emergence of rookie Joey Cantillo in the back end of the rotation shrunk Carrasco's chances of a return to the Guardians. In a corresponding move, Myles Straw was selected from Triple-A Columbus.

Carrasco (hip) began a rehab assignment Friday with Double-A Akron, covering three innings and striking out three while allowing two earned runs on three hits and no walks.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco tossed 41 pitches (27 strikes) in the outing, his first since he landed on the 15-day injured list Aug. 9 with a left hip strain. Though the Guardians wouldn't seem to have an opening in the rotation for Carrasco with rookie Joey Cantillo thriving of late as the club's new No. 5 starter in place of the injured Alex Cobb (finger), Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt told MLB.com on Sept. 3 that he still envisions Carrasco returning from the IL as an option to start. Carrasco is still expected to require at least one more rehab start in the minors before the Guardians activate him and make a decision on his role.

Guardians president of baseball operations Chris Antonetti said Sunday that Carrasco (hip) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session by the middle of the week, Joe Noga of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
Until Antonetti spoke to the media Sunday, the club hadn't provided many updates on Carrasco's status since he landed on the injured list Aug. 9 with a left hip strain. Based on Antonetti's comments, Carrasco was able to resume throwing within the past week, and the 37-year-old right-hander will continue the ramp up process when he faces hitters in the coming days. Alex Cobb (fingernail) is also scheduled for a live session later this week and appears on pace to beat Carrasco back from the IL, so the Guardians may not have room in the rotation for the latter pitcher once he's fully stretched out. Carrasco had posted a 5.64 ERA over 103.2 innings over his 21 starts this season prior to being shelved with the hip injury.

The Guardians placed Carrasco on the 15-day injured list Friday due to a left hip strain.
EDGE Analysis
The 37-year-old presumably suffered the injury during his start against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, during which he allowed four runs across 4.1 innings. Carrasaco will be eligible for reinstatement Aug. 23, but it's unclear how long he's expected to be sidelined or if he'll have a rotation spot waiting for him once he's healthy.

Carrasco (3-10) took the loss Wednesday against the Diamondbacks in the second game of a doubleheader, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
After delivering a scoreless first inning, Carrasco allowed two runs in the second, including a leadoff homer to Josh Bell, before the Diamondbacks added on two more runs on Bell's second homer in the third. The 37-year-old Carrasco has dropped four of his last five starts while struggling to an 8.65 ERA in his last four outings. His ERA is up to 5.64 on the season with a 1.40 WHIP and 89:33 K:BB across 103.2 innings. Carrasco's currently lined up to face to Cubs at home early next week, though he could soon lose his spot in the rotation with Matthew Boyd (elbow) nearing a return.

Carrasco allowed a run on one hit and four walks over 4.1 innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out five during the win over the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco struggled with his command and failed to complete five innings to earn the win. After giving up a run in the second inning, he retired eight of the last nine batters he faced. He had taken a loss in his previous three starts, giving up a combined 13 runs in 14 innings during that stretch. On the year, Carrasco is 3-9 with a 5.53 ERA and an 84:31 K:BB through 99.1 innings. He's currently in line for a home matchup with the Diamondbacks next week.

Carrasco (3-9) took the loss Saturday, coughing up six runs on six hits and a walk over 3.2 innings as the Guardians fell 8-0 to the Phillies. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander put up goose eggs for three innings before the wheels came off in the fourth, beginning with a two-run homer by Bryce Harper. It was Carrasco's shortest outing since April 6, and he had given Cleveland at least five innings in seven straight starts coming into Saturday, although with less-than-stellar results. On the season, he sports a 5.68 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 79:27 K:BB through 95 innings. With the trade deadline looming, prospect Joey Cantillo getting a look Sunday and Matthew Boyd (elbow) getting stretched out in the minors, Carrasco's time in the rotation could be drawing to a close, but for now he's scheduled to make his next start at home next weekend against the Orioles.

Carrasco (3-8) took the loss against the Tigers on Monday, allowing six runs on nine hits and no walks with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco yielded four runs over the first two innings and then two more in the sixth. The southpaw had allowed three earned runs or fewer in five consecutive starts before the All-Star break but struggled despite throwing a season-high 96 pitches and not walking any batters. He owns a 5.32 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 74:26 K:BB over 91.1 innings and lines up for a difficult road matchup with the Phillies this weekend.

Carrasco (3-7) took the loss against the Rays on Friday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts over five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco battled Friday, but the Guardians were unable to get anything going against Taj Bradley. The veteran leaned on his offspeed offerings for 53 of his 82 pitches and has now yielded three earned runs or fewer in each of his past five starts. He will take a 5.02 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 68:26 K:BB across 86 innings into the All-Star break.

Carrasco yielded three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings during a no-decision Sunday. He struck out four in the win over San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco served up a two-run shot to Michael Conforto in the second inning and gave up another run in the third. Carrasco has delivered at least five innings in five straight starts, registering a 4.67 ERA during that span. He's given up at least one homer in four straight appearances and has been tagged with 14 long balls over his last 12 starts. Carrasco owns a 5.22 ERA with a 65:25 K:BB through 81 innings. His next start is projected to be in Tampa Bay.
