Carrasco received an injection Wednesday for his ailing right elbow and will be shut down for 3-to-5 days, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco had already been placed on the injured list Tuesday and more will be known about a potential timetable when he's re-evaluated after the shutdown period. Joey Lucchesi is a candidate to take Carrasco's spot in the Mets' rotation.

Carrasco was placed on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to April 16, with right elbow inflammation.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco had struggled to an 8.56 ERA through 13.2 innings (three starts) this season with the Mets and is now in for an extended absence. It's worth noting that he also battled elbow trouble toward the end of spring training. Jeff Brigham has been called up to work out of the bullpen. New York will have to add another starter this weekend.

Carrasco did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits and one walk over five innings during a 3-2 win over the Athletics. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
Aside from a bumpy second inning, Carrasco was able to keep the bases clear and got through five innings for the first time this season. The right-hander had allowed at least one home run and multiple walks in each of his first two starts, so Saturday's outing was certainly a step in the right direction. Carrasco's next start is tentatively scheduled for New York's upcoming four-game set in San Francisco.

Carrasco (0-2) took the loss during Sunday's 7-2 loss to Miami, allowing six runs on six hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco gave up a three-run shot to Bryan De La Cruz in the first and a two-run homer to Jazz Chisholm in the fifth before getting replaced. The veteran right-hander has now allowed three homers through his first 8.2 innings this season after surrendering 17 across 29 starts (152 innings) in 2022. Carrasco and Mets Manager Buck Showalter both attributed the pitcher's lack of velocity in his first start to the pitch clock, so it may take awhile for him to get adjusted to the new rules this season. Carrasco is tentatively scheduled to pitch next against the Athletics, which should be an advantageous matchup.

Carrasco and Mets manager Buck Showalter both attributed the right-hander's dip in velocity during Monday's start in Milwaukee to fatigue brought on by the pitch clock, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco was bludgeoned for five runs on four hits and four walks over four-plus innings in the outing while averaging just 91.1 mph with his fastball, which is down more than two mph from last season. This is one of the consequences of the pitch clock and it's going to affect pitchers differently. Carrasco will be an iffy fantasy proposition until he makes the adjustment.

Carrasco (0-1) took the loss Monday, allowing five runs on four hits and four walks over four-plus innings against the Brewers. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco didn't give up a run in the first two innings, but things unraveled quickly for the veteran right-hander. He gave up a run in the third before allowing a two-run homer to Brian Anderson in the fourth, and two more runs came across in the fifth before he exited the contest. Finding the strike zone was a problem for him throughout the contest, as he threw just 53 of 96 pitches for strikes and was behind in the count consistently. Carrasco is scheduled to work again Sunday in a start against the Marlins.

Carrasco (elbow) threw 70 pitches Tuesday in a minor-league game, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Carrasco was scratched from a minor-league start last week due to what was called "elbow maintenance." There doesn't seem to be much -- if any -- concern around the veteran right-hander, who is lined up to make his first regular-season start for the Mets next Monday at the Brewers.

Mets manager Buck Showalter said that Carrasco won't make his scheduled minor-league start Thursday due to "elbow maintenance," Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets don't seem to be even considering this an injury, as Carrasco is slated to make a minor-league start next Tuesday instead. The situation is an odd one, but Carrasco's elbow typically gives him a little trouble every spring. Barring any setbacks, fantasy managers should continue drafting him as they normally would. Carrasco holds a 4.15 ERA and 14:2 K:BB over 13 innings this spring.

Carrasco gave up one run on two hits and a walk over four innings in Friday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
It's the first time in four spring starts Carrasco didn't serve up a homer, which might be a more encouraging sign than the strikeouts -- even if it did come against a Miami lineup containing few regulars. The veteran right-hander worked up to 57 pitches (41 strikes) and has an impressive 14:2 K:BB through 13 Grapefruit League innings. Carrasco should get in one more spring start before Opening Day, when he'll be the No. 3 or No. 4 starter in the Mets' rotation.

Carrasco gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits over four innings in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays. He struck out four without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The K's were encouraging, but Carrasco also served up two homers -- one to top Tampa prospect Kyle Manzardo, and the other to 26-year-old minor leaguer Niko Hulsizer. Carrasco has now given up four homers through nine spring innings to go with a solid 7:1 K:BB, but as yet there's little cause for concern with the veteran right-hander.
