McCann has cleared waivers, making him available for the Yankees to trade him elsewhere, Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Yankees were in talks with the Braves about the veteran catcher prior to the trade deadline and will likely try to deal him before the season concludes. For now, he should continue as the everyday catcher for New York.

McCann is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
McCann has started the past three games, so he will get his standard day off to rest Wednesday. The 32-year-old is currently riding an eight game hitting streak, although he is hitting just .250 over the course of it and has struck out nine times in 32 at-bats.

McCann is out of the lineup for Saturday's contest with Tampa Bay.
EDGE Analysis
McCann has made three consecutive starts coming into Saturday and so will get the day off as Austin Romine fills in behind the plate and bats ninth. McCann has yet to find his groove since the All-Star break, going 6-for-39 (.154) in 11 games since the start of the second half.

McCann provided all the offense for the Yankees in Wednesday's loss to Houston with a solo homer -- his lone hit to go with two strikeouts in four at-bats.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop hadn't homered since before the All-Star break -- July 8 -- and after collecting six hits in his final two games before the break, he still only has five hits in 10 games since. For a while there in April, it looked like we might get a bit more batting average out of McCann, but it now looks like he's destined to hit around .230 for the fourth time in five years.

McCann is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Giants, Erik Boland of Newsday Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann will get a regular day off Friday after starting the past four games. In his place, Austin Romine gets the nod behind the plate while batting seventh in the order.

McCann is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
It's the perfect storm for McCann to get a day off, as he's caught the first two games of the series, and would have had to face tough lefty David Price for the opposing Red Sox. While the veteran rests, Austin Romine will man the backstop.

McCann is not in the lineup for Sunday's game in Cleveland, Newsday's Erik Boland reports.
EDGE Analysis
After starting McCann in each of the past four games, the Yankees will turn to Austin Romine for a tough matchup against Cleveland's Carlos Carrasco. McCann boasts a .248/.347/462 slash line for the season, with six of his 14 homers coming in the last three weeks.

McCann accounted for all of the Yankees' runs in Friday's 10-2 loss to the Indians, going 3-for-4 with an RBI double and solo homer.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran backstop's solo homer in the seventh came after the Yankees were already on the wrong end of a 9-0 score, and his ninth-inning RBI double was meaningless in the grand scheme of things. However, the production did serve to extend his hitting streak to nine games, a span that has seen McCann raise his average 18 points. He's also seen a 34-point jump since June 19, and has hit safely in 13 of his last 14 contests overall.

McCann is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Padres, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Austin Romine will take over behind the plate as McCann sits following three straight starts. McCann homered in Friday's loss to San Diego, his 13th homer this season, but he is striking out at a career-high rate and that doesn't bode well for his chances of significantly improving his batting average.

McCann went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Friday's loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The catcher is now riding a four-game hitting streak, blasting a trio of homers in that span. McCann's .231 batting average is just about in line with his career mark since donning the pinstripes, but his 13 home runs before the halfway point put him on track to top last season's career-best output of 26.
