McCann went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Tuesday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
The homer was McCann's first of the spring. At 33, he still wields a power bat. He's surpassed the 20-homer threshold each of the last nine seasons. McCann will get the bulk of the starts at catcher with Evan Gattis backing him up, but you can bet manager A.J. Hinch will rotate him through designated hitter to keep him fresh from April to October.

McCann (illness) will occupy the DH spot and bat sixth in the lineup in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Marlins, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann first came down with a case of the stomach flu Wednesday and was held out of action for the last few days, but his return to the lineup suggests he's fully recovered from the illness. Look for him to resume duties behind the plate at some point next week, but for Sunday's game, Max Stassi will serve as the battery mate for starting pitcher Mike Fiers.

McCann (stomach ailment) was feeling better and and increased his activity Thursday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann was scratched from a game Wednesday and may not play "maybe for the next day or two," according to Houston manager A.J. Hinch. He's been replaced in the lineup by Max Stassi and Juan Centeno the last two days, but if were in the regular season, Evan Gattis would be his fill-in.

McCann was scratched from Wednesday's Grapefruit League game with a stomach ailment, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Max Stassi will get the start behind the plate instead. It's likely nothing too serious for McCann, who should be back in action within a couple days. The veteran catcher was traded to Houston this offseason after spending the last three seasons with the Yankees.

McCann caught Dallas Keuchel's first bullpen session of spring training Friday.
EDGE Analysis
The Astros are hoping Keuchel and McCann are the battery come Opening Day, so it was encouraging to hear Keuchel talking about a comfort level with Houston's new catcher. McCann's been around and understands what it takes for a catcher to become acquainted with a bunch of new starters. The 12-year veteran has caught 1,372 games since his debut in 2005, so he's learned some about the catcher-pitcher relationship. He also brings a power bat to the position, having averaging 20 homers and 74 RBI with a .799 OPS. McCann will serve as Houston's primary catcher this season with Evan Gattis his backup.

McCann was traded to the Astros on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
In return for McCann, the Yankees will receive Albert Abreu and Jorge Guzman from Houston. Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports reports that McCann will share time with Evan Gattis behind the plate in 2017, but is still expected to start more than 100 games for his new club. In the 2016 campaign, McCann posted a .242/.335/.413 line over 130 games and enjoyed his ninth consecutive season with over 20 home runs.

McCann went 2-for-4 with a solo shot, his 20th home run of the season, in Sunday's loss to the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
He played DH on Sunday, a position that will likely be his regular home in 2017 if he stay with the Yankees given the emergence of Gary Sanchez. McCann's .242 batting average on the season is actually his highest in three years, and he's only topped .250 once in the last five seasons, but he still reached the 20 home run plateau for a remarkable ninth straight campaign.

McCann went 4-for-5 with a run and an RBI in the Yankees 14-4 win over the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
It was McCann's first four-hit game of the season and raised his batting average to .241. McCann has been solid of late, hitting .283/.340/.522 in September. He remains one shy of his ninth straight 20-homer season, a feat only David Ortiz has accomplished over that stretch.

McCann is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
This is standard procedure with a lefty (Clayton Kershaw) on the mound for the opposition. Austin Romine will get the start at DH and hit eighth Wednesday.

McCann is not in the lineup against the Rays on Friday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
McCann smoked two home runs Thursday -- his 18th and 19th of the season -- as part of a three-hit showing, but manager Joe Girardi will try to stack as many righties into the lineup as he can Friday against lefty Blake Snell. In his place, Gary Sanchez will slot back in as the catcher while Tyler Austin will take a turn as the club's DH.
