Colon (back) is scheduled to start Saturday against the Twins, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Colon's stay on the disabled list will be a brief one, with the veteran right-hander slated to rejoin the rotation the first day he's eligible. The 45-year-old has posted an unremarkable 5.45 ERA across 140.1 innings this season.

Manager Jeff Banister said Colon (hamstring) will return to the starting rotation when he's ready to pitch, Martin Oppegaard of MLB.com reports. The 45-year-old Colon was placed on the disabled list Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to Colon landing on the disabled list, there was speculation that he would be removed from the rotation, replaced by a young arm that could use the exposure to major-league hitters. Banister's comments suggest Colon will continue to get starts, although as we get into September, we suspect some of the organization's roster-expansion callups to take turns in the rotation. The Rangers will have multiple spots in the 2019 rotation up for grabs, and it makes sense to evaluate pitchers other than Colon.

Colon was placed on the 10-day disabled list due to a lower back strain Friday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's unclear if this issue was bothering Colon during his latest outing, as he was rocked for seven runs over five innings of work in a loss to the Athletics on Monday. The severity of the issue is unknown, although he'll be eligible to return from the shelf starting Sept. 1 as the move is retroactive to Wednesday. Hanser Alberto was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move.

Colon (back) is listed as the Rangers' probable starter for Monday's game against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
The 45-year-old had been scheduled to take the hill for Sunday's series finale against the Angels, but those plans were tabled after Colon experienced back stiffness earlier in the weekend. Colon was able to throw off flat ground from long distance Sunday without issue, so he'll merely be pushed back one day, which won't force the Rangers to alter their six-man rotation. After cruising to the tune of a 2.82 ERA and 0.84 WHIP through his first nine outings of the season, regression has set in hard for Colon ever since. Dating back to mid-May, the burly right-hander has submitted a 6.62 ERA and 1.52 WHIP over his last 84.1 innings.

Colon (back) won't start Sunday's game against the Angels, but could be ready to pitch Monday against the Athletics, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
EDGE Analysis
Colon ended up getting scratched for the final game of the Rangers' homestand after complaining of back stiffness Saturday, resulting in Yovani Gallardo moving up a day in the Rangers' pitching schedule. The setback doesn't seem to be much of a concern for Colon, who was able to complete some long-tossing prior to Sunday's contest. If Colon reports no renewed discomfort following the Rangers' flight to Oakland, he should return to the mound during the series opener.

Colon may not be able to start Sunday against the Angels as he's battling back stiffness, T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
An alternative plan for if Colon is unable to go has not been announced. Eddie Butler has starting experience in the Rangers' pen and would be on five days' rest if he's not called upon Saturday, so he could be a logical replacement.

Colon (7-10) allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out three to earn the win in Monday's 5-3 victory over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Colon survived a rocky first-inning when the Rangers fell behind 2-0, then retired 10 consecutive batters while his teammates hit a pair of home runs to give him the lead. It was Colon's second straight win following a five-start losing streak. If the Rangers stick to a six-man rotation, Colon next lines up to pitch Monday in Oakland.

Colon (6-10) allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out one over seven innings to earn the win in Tuesday's 11-4 victory over Seattle.
EDGE Analysis
It didn't start well for Colon who allowed three runs, two home runs and two triples over the first three innings, but the 45-year-old right-hander got help from Rougned Odor and Jurickson Profar, a pair of infielders two decades his junior. Profar hit a three-run homer and Odor added two-run bomb to give Colon all the support he needed to earn career win No. 246, passing Dennis Martinez for the most wins among pitchers from Latin America. With the milestone out of the way, the Rangers can now consider removing Colon from the rotation and concentrating on starters that may be around for 2019.

Colon (5-10) took the loss Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
That's now three straight outings with at least five runs allowed for the 45-year-old, and his fifth straight start resulting in a loss. After a solid opening couple of months, Colon's ERA has ballooned up to 5.18 and he's working to just 5.2 K/9 in his 21st season. He'll get his next chance to turn it around Monday at home against the Mariners.

Colon (5-6) took the loss Friday, allowing three runs on five hits over eight innings while striking out three as the Rangers fell 3-1 to the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
The 45-year-old sits on the verge of history, as his next victory will make him the all-time wins leader among Latin-American pitchers -- he's currently tied with Dennis Martinez at 245 -- but Colon came up short Friday as he got outdueled by Jordan Zimmermann. Colon will take a 4.65 ERA into his next outing, and next shot at the record books, Wednesday in Boston.
