Miller (forearm) was activated from the 15-day DL on Wednesday. As expected, Miller was added back to the active roster ahead of Wednesday's game after a month-long recovery from a left forearm injury. Manager Joe Girardi did away with any speculation as to his role upon activation, saying that Miller will indeed slot back into the closer role and push Dellin Betances back to setup duty.

Miller will be on a one-inning, 25-pitch limit but may not need to be stretched out any further. Manager Joe Girardi indicated that Miller could rejoin the big league club after just the one rehab appearance if he came out of it feeling well, but the ultimate decision will be made either late Monday or Tuesday.

Miller (forearm) felt good after throwing a 30-pitch bullpen session Saturday, Newsday's Erik Boland reports. Miller threw a couple times this week, and he believes he is ready for the next step in his recovery, which will likely be a rehab game. It's not clear how many rehab appearances Miller will need before being activated from the disabled list, but if he is able to get into a game early this week, he could still return before the All-Star break.

Miller (forearm) threw 20 pitches off a mound Wednesday, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports. With Miller reporting no issues in his return to elevated ground, pitching coach Larry Rothschild suggested the lefty could still make it back before the All-Star break. It's uncertain, however, what role Miller will take on immediately upon his return, as Dellin Betances has converted all four of his save opportunities since Miller landed on the DL.

Miller (forearm) played catch Sunday and could throw off a mound this week, the NY Post reports. Miller has now been able to play catch three times in four days, an encouraging sign that he's coming along well in his recovery from a strained forearm muscle. Depending on how the next few steps go, Miller could be able to re-join the club before the All Star break.
