Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Thursday that it's not a high probability Allen Craig (foot) plays in October.
"Could Craig play this postseason? Yes," Mozeliak told CBS Sports 920 in St. Louis. "Is it a high probability that he plays? No." Craig missed the final four weeks of the regular season with a Lisfranc injury and is making steady but slow progress in his rehab. Matt Adams is serving as the Cardinals' starting first baseman.

Cardinals general manger John Mozeliak said Friday that Allen Craig (foot) is "very doubtful" to be available for the NLDS.
Craig has missed most of September with a foot sprain and the Cardinals will continue to go the conservative route with his recovery. While this is a tough blow for the team's playoff chances, Matt Adams has played very well in his absence.

Allen Craig (foot) is likely to undergo an X-ray when he is re-evaluated Thursday.
Craig has been all but ruled out for a return during the regular season, but the Cardinals remain hopeful that he'll be back for the postseason. More should obviously be known about his status following Thursday's exam.

Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said Allen Craig "probably" won't be back before the end of the regular season.
Craig will be re-evaluated at the end of next week, but that doesn't leave much time for him to get back in the lineup before the season ends next Sunday. It means Craig's fantasy season is done as well, so owners in redraft leagues who have been holding onto the first baseman in hopes of a return can drop him without worry. If he doesn't make it back, Craig will finish the season with a .315/.373/.457 line.

The Cardinals still do not have a timetable for Allen Craig's (foot) return.
Craig remained in St. Louis rather than traveling with the team during their current road trip, and has been simulating swings in an effort to maintain the strength in his core. He is still in a walking boot to protect his injured foot and to prevent re-injury. Matt Adams will continue to get the bulk of the work at first base while Craig is sidelined.

Allen Craig (foot) is not expected to rejoin the Cardinals on their current road trip.
Craig suffered a sprained left foot earlier this month and is back in St. Louis getting daily treatment while the Cardinals play road series in Colorado and Milwaukee. Cardinals manager Mike Matheny acknowledged Wednesday that his starting first baseman might not return before the end of the regular season. And now Matt Adams is having elbow issues.

Allen Craig (foot) will remain in a walking boot for now as a precaution.
Craig was re-evaluated back in St. Louis on Thursday and Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak said that he is "feeling good" and "positive." While that's an encouraging update, it's unclear when he'll be ready to return to action.

Allen Craig's (foot) re-evaluation has been pushed back to Thursday.
Craig is no longer in a walking boot and was cleared for a light workout in the weight room Tuesday, but that's the only update on the first baseman at this point. The Cardinals are expected to have a better idea as to how long Craig will be sidelined following Thursday's exam.

Allen Craig has had the walking boot removed from his left foot.
Craig is set to be re-evaluated early this week, at which point a timetable for his return should be established. The first baseman is dealing with a sprained left foot, an injury he suffered on Wednesday in Cincinnati.

The Cardinals have yet to provide a timetable for Allen Craig's (foot) return, but General Manager John Mozeliak said Friday that he'd be "happy" if Craig returned for the postseason.
With that sentiment, it sounds as if Craig could be on the shelf for more than just a couple of days, which could be devastating to fantasy owners down the stretch. The 29-year-old is hitting .313/.373/.457 with 13 homers and 97 RBI on the season.
