Tigers activated C Alex Avila from the 15-day disabled list. Avila will return to the Tigers' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Blue Jays after missing the past two-or-so weeks with a badly bruised left forearm. He is hitting just .172/.271/.288 in 48 games this year.

Alex Avila (forearm) has two doubles, a home run and five RBI over his past five rehab games. Avila is eligible to return from the disabled list on Tuesday and should do just that. He's been out for the past two weeks with a nasty bruise on his left forearm.

Alex Avila (forearm) went 0-for-3 with a walk in his first rehab game Sunday with Triple-A Toledo. Avila played all nine innings and served as the designated hitter. He'll likely need to appear in 7-8 games on his rehab assignment before being activated from the disabled list on July 2 when first eligible.

Alex Avila (forearm) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Sunday at Triple-A Toledo. Avila is aiming to return from the disabled list on the first day that he's eligible and is currently on track to meet that goal. He suffered an ugly forearm bruise on June 16 when he was hit by a pitch.

Alex Avila (forearm) could begin a minor league rehab assignment this weekend. Avila was placed on the disabled list earlier this week due to a deep contusion on his left forearm, but he's already feeling a lot better. He won't be eligible to return until the end of the month, so he'll have an opportunity to work on his swing in the minors for a little while.

Alex Avila (forearm) is not expected to be in Monday's lineup. Avila will miss at least one game after being hit by a pitch Sunday. The Tigers are calling him day-to-day for now, but a stint on the DL can't be ruled out. He finished 2-for-3 with a run scored before exiting.

Alex Avila left Sunday's game with a left forearm injury. Avila was hit by a pitch and had to be removed in ninth inning. The severity of the injury isn't yet known, but Tigers should provide an update on his status soon.

Alex Avila is batting .166/.265/.280 this season. That's through 181 plate appearances. The jig is clearly up in one-catcher mixed leagues, while Avila's .243/.352/.384 2012 slash offers little hope for players in two-catcher formats. Avila's excellent 2011 - where he hit .295/.389/.506 - is looking more and more like the outlier campaign in his five-year career. It wouldn't be stunning if Avila finally started to hit, but there's not a ton of upside in waiting for him to do so.

Alex Avila is not in the Tigers' lineup Friday. It's just a day off for Avila. Brayan Pena is getting the start against Ubaldo Jimenez and the Indians.

Alex Avila homered Saturday off the Orioles' Jason Hammel for his first extra-base hit in 22 days. Avila's homer was the third of back-to-back-to-back blasts with Victor Martinez and Jhonny Peralta. He's been making adjustments to his swing lately, and it will be interesting to see if it pays off in the coming weeks.
