Adam Wainwright will not start on short rest in Game 4, staying on schedule for a Game 5 start on Monday. The Cardinals didn't rule out bringing back Waino on short rest Sunday, but not that they've evened the series up, they know they won't be facing elimination in Game 4. Lance Lynn will get the ball on Sunday ahead of Wainwright.

Adam Wainwright, Zack Greinke and Patrick Corbin have been named finalists for the National League Gold Glove award at pitcher. Wainwright won the award back in 2009, which probably makes him the favorite among the three. Greinke and Corbin will be seeking their first Gold Gloves. The winner will be announced next week.

The Cardinals have not ruled out starting Adam Wainwright in Game 4 on short rest. If it's not an elimination game, the Cards are likely to go with Lance Lynn, but they could bring back their ace on three days' rest if their backs are against the wall. Wainwright struggled in Game 1, allowing five runs over five innings of work. The right-hander has never pitched on short rest during his career.

Adam Wainwright allowed five runs, all of which came in the first two innings, over five innings of work in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to the Red Sox. Wainwright was done in by poor defense and some poorly placed pitches, as a walk, single and error loaded the bases before Mike Napoli blasted a bases-clearing double in the first inning. After two innings Wainwright rebounded to set down seven straight hitters, but the damage was already done. He finished with six hits and a walk allowed while striking out four.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny officially announced Sunday that Adam Wainwright will start for the Cardinals in Game 1 of the World Series against the Red Sox on Wednesday. This certainly doesn't come as a surprise, as Wainwright is the ace of the Cardinals staff and will be more than fully rested, having last pitched in Game 3 of the NLDS against the Dodgers on Monday. Thus far in the postseason, Wainwright is 2-1 with a 1.57 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 20/1 K/BB ratio over three starts (23 IP). Michael Wacha is expected to follow up in the Cardinals rotation.

Adam Wainwright deserved better but was hung with a loss Monday, holding the Dodgers to two runs over seven frames as the Dodgers took Game 3. A case could certainly be made that he shouldn't have given up any runs. Both runs Waino permitted came home in the fourth, an inning that began when Mark Ellis was credited with a double after Jon Jay failed to take charge in right center field. He then retired two of the next three hitters before Yasiel Puig knocked a triple to extend the Dodgers' lead to 2-0. Wainwright will get the ball again in Game 7 if the series gets that far.

Adam Wainwright threw an eight-hit complete game as the Cardinals topped the Pirates 6-1 in Wednesday's NLDS Game 5. For the series, Wainwright threw 16 innings, allowing two runs with a 0.75 WHIP over two starts. On Wednesday, Wainwright's only run allowed came on three consecutive hits that didn't leave the infield. It was Wainwright's fourth career playoff win but his first-ever complete game in postseason play. It was also his third-straight postseason start allowing one run, dating back to last season's NLCS against the Giants.

Adam Wainwright limited the Pirates to one run on three hits and no walks over seven innings in Thursday's 9-1 win over the Pirates. He notched nine strikeouts. Wainwright left a fastball over the plate that Pedro Alvarez hit out in the fifth, but he was otherwise in total control, throwing nasty curveball after nasty curveball. The righty tossed 105 pitches over his seven frames before Carlos Martinez and Trevor Rosenthal mowed down the Bucs in the final two innings. Waino is in line to pitch again in Game 5, if necessary.

Adam Wainwright stifled the Cubs offense in Saturday's victory, scattering just two hits and a walk over 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Wainwright recorded five strikeouts in the ballgame, which provided a nice tune-up heading into the postseason. The 32-year-old has completely reverted to pre-injury form this season, posting a stellar 19-9 record, 2.94 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 219/35 K/BB ratio over 241 2/3 innings. If not for the sheer dominance of Clayton Kershaw this season, Wainwright would garner serious consideration for the National League Cy Young award.
