Adam Wainwright pitched eight innings of three-run ball Monday as the Cardinals won in Kansas City. Wainwright allowed 12 hits, but as is typical for the Royals, there were no homers among them. In fact, just one, David Lough's double, went for extra bases. There were also no walks. Wainwright may not have been quite at his best today, but he didn't need to be. He's 7-3 with a 2.48 ERA.

Adam Wainwright limited the Padres to one run and four hits in 7 1/3 innings to pick up his sixth win Tuesday. Wainwright had a 5.77 ERA on this day a year ago before finally turning around his season with a shutout of the Padres on May 22. This year, he's been on target since day one; he ranks in the top 10 in the NL in wins, ERA, WHIP and strikeouts.

Adam Wainwright lost a no-hit bid in the eighth inning Saturday, but settled for a two-hit shutout in a 3-0 victory over the Rockies. It was his sixth career shutout and his 12th complete game. Wainwright didn't give up his first hit until Nolan Arenado dumped a single into shallow left-center field with one out in the eighth inning. It snapped an 0-for-50 streak by Rockies' hitters if you include Shelby Miller's brilliant performance from Friday night. Wainwright struck out seven and walked one in the victory and holds a brilliant 2.30 ERA and 55/4 K/BB ratio in 58 2/3 innings over his first eight starts this season. He's looking like a Cy Young contender early on.

Adam Wainwright gave up five earned runs in 5 1/3 innings but the Cardinals beat the Brewers on Saturday. It was by far Wainwright's worst start of the season, but the St. Louis offense was relentless and ultimately bailed him out. The right-hander didn't walk a batter and struck out five, but he surrendered a whopping 11 hits. He should be better next week against the Rockies.

Adam Wainwright tossed 8 1/3 scoreless innings Tuesday as the Cardinals blanked the Nationals 2-0. Wainwright was locked in all evening, tallying nine strikeouts against one walk and five hits. He nearly tallied his second shutout of the season but Cardinals manager Mike Matheny opted to pull him at 113 pitches. Edward Mujica was able to close it out. Wainwright is now 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 37/1 K/BB ratio in 37 1/3 innings this season.

Adam Wainwright registered his third victory Thursday, holding the Phillies to three runs while striking out four over seven innings in a 4-3 win. He gave up nine hits and didn't walk anyone. Wainwright actually coughed up the lead on two different occasions, but he finished out the seventh and watched Carlos Beltran put his club up in the eighth. The right-hander holds a 2.48 ERA and 1.07 WHIP on the young season, and he's yet to walk a batter while recording 28 strikeouts over 29 frames. Waino looks to be on track to returning to be one of the better pitchers in the NL again this season. He has a tough matchup against the Nationals on the road next week.

Adam Wainwright tossed his fifth career shutout in the Cardinals' 8-0 stomping of the Brewers on Saturday. Wainwright looked excellent all day, yielding only four hits and issuing no walks while racking up 12 strikeouts. He now has a 2.05 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 24 strikeouts through 22 innings (three starts) this season. The 31-year-old right-hander has not walked a batter. It's a good thing the Cardinals locked him up when they did.

Adam Wainwright allowed two runs over seven innings in Sunday's 14-3 win over the Giants. Wainwright gave up seven hits, but was in control throughout the game and finished with six strikeouts. He didn't show any lingering effects after being hit in the shoulder by a comebacker in his last start. Marc Rzepczynski and Joe Kelly came on late to combine for two scoreless innings in relief.

Adam Wainwright allowed four runs -- three earned -- on 11 hits over six innings in Monday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He struck out six and didn't walk anyone. Wainwright was cruising along until a comebacker in the third inning struck him in the pitching shoulder. Although he shooed the training staff away and insisted he was fine, his command wasn't nearly as good afterwards, and it resulted in a three-spot in the fourth and another run in the fifth. But, until we hear differently, Waino should be fine for his next start.
