Wainwright (elbow) is expected to be activated from the 10-day disabled list Tuesday against the Reds, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright reported Sunday that everything went well during his recent simulated game and that he's now aiming for a Tuesday return from the DL. He said that he'll work out of the Cardinals' bullpen upon his activation, with the date of his first start back in the rotation still to be determined.

Wainwright (elbow) threw a bullpen session Thursday and estimated he hit 90 mph, David Solomon of 550 KTRS radio reports. He's next scheduled for a bullpen session Saturday or Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander seems to be on track for a return, perhaps within the next week. Wainwright may only be limited to one or two starts the rest of the way, however, and his eroding skills make him an uninviting mixed-league starter anyway. Of course, desperate streamer times could call for the measure of adding him for a dart at a win and some strikeouts.

Wainwright (elbow) will throw his second bullpen session Thursday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright threw his first bullpen Tuesday, and manager Mike Matheny announced Wednesday that the veteran did not feel any adverse effects a day later. Consequently, he's slated to put in another session Thursday as he inches closer to a return after a multi-week absence.

Wainwright (elbow) threw off flat ground Saturday and plans to throw a bullpen Monday or Tuesday, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was happy with his sinker during the session and could face Cardinals hitters in live batting practice soon. Wainwright (12-5, 5.12 ERA this year) may not return in time to have much of an impact in fantasy games, especially if the Cardinals fall out of wild-card contention. However, if the right streamer matchup comes into play, he may prove useful. The veteran may need to throw at least one rehab start before he can be activated, though.

Wainwright (elbow) will rejoin the team when they begin their series next Monday in San Diego, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright had a platelet-rich plasma injection roughly two weeks ago, so is likely still at least a week away from returning. Depending on how his next throwing session goes, he could make a return during next week's series against the Padres, but with rosters expanded for September, the Cardinals have no reason to keep him on the disabled list.

Wainwright (elbow) had a doctor's appointment scheduled for Sunday, during which he was expected to get further information on when he'd be cleared to begin a throwing program, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright has been on the disabled list since Aug. 18 and was restricted from throwing for 10 to 14 days following a platelet-rich plasma injection the following day. While he's yet to reach that time window, the veteran was hoping to gain a more definitive date on when he'd be cleared to take the next step. The results of Sunday's appointment weren't immediately available, but further clarity on his status should be available in the early portion of the week.

Wainwright will be shut down from throwing for 10-to-14 days after he received a PRP injection in his right elbow Saturday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright remains without a timetable for his return, but the Cardinals are optimistic that he'll be back in action before the season is over. In the meantime, Luke Weaver will continue to fill his spot in the starting rotation.

Wainwright heads to the 10-day disabled list with right elbow impingement following Thursday's start against the Pirates, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright was hit pretty hard during Thursday's outing, giving up five earned runs off seven hits over three innings before getting the hook in Pittsburgh. He wound up flying back St. Louis on Friday to be reevaluated, and will now make another stay on the disabled list. The right-hander recently returned from a back injury earlier this month, but has seemed out of sorts since, lasting just 11 innings over the course of three starts following his activation on Aug. 6. While there hasn't been a definitive timetable on Wainwright's status, he could return after just one or two missed starts depending on the severity. Luke Weaver will step into his place in the rotation starting Wednesday against San Diego.

Wainwright will be sent back to St. Louis on Friday to have his sore arm reevaluated, Fox Sports Midwest reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright has not pitched to his usual standard since returning from the disabled list in early August, lasting a total of 11.0 innings in those three starts. Things appeared to come to a head Thursday as Wainwright was shelled for five earned runs on seven hits over just 3.0 innings before being pulled. Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com adds a particularly concerning note that Wainwright failed to touch 90 miles per hour on the radar gun Thursday for the second consecutive start. Friday's visit with doctors in St. Louis should shed light on what exactly is ailing the veteran righty.

Wainwright gave up five runs in 3.0 innings Thursday against the Pirates but escaped with a no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright left with his team trailing 5-1, but his record remained unharmed after he watched his offense score nine unanswered runs before winning the game 11-7. It was Wainwright's second straight outing with no strikeouts, a sign that age has caught up to the Cardinals' 35-year-old former ace.
