Wainwright (hamstring) was officially activated from the disabled list Thursday ahead of his scheduled start against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, the veteran hurler will rejoin the Cardinals after missing the first week of the season. Wainwright will face off with southpaw Robbie Ray in his season debut as he looks to put a rough 2017 campaign behind him.

Wainwright (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list Thursday in order to start Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran has been sidelined since the latter part of spring training, but he appears to be fully healthy once again. Jack Flaherty will head back to the minors to make room for Wainwright on the roster. He'll take on Robbie Ray in the team's home opener.

Wainwright (hamstring) could make his first start of the season Thursday against the Diamondbacks, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright began the season on the disabled list after suffering a hamstring strain towards the end of camp. The veteran right-hander is set to join the Cardinals for their upcoming series against the Brewers in Milwaukee, and if he's able to toss a bullpen with no issues in the coming days, he could be activated prior to Thursday's home opener, which he was originally scheduled to start. If Wainwright is indeed cleared to return to the mound Thursday, he will have missed just one turn in the rotation while injured.

Wainwright (hamstring) has been placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to March 26.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright is still working his way back from a hamstring strain that he suffered over the weekend. It's unclear when the veteran will be ready to rejoin the Cardinals, but a more concrete return date should emerge as he continues to progress through his rehab. In the meantime, Jack Flaherty will occupy Wainwright's spot in the starting rotation.

Wainwright was diagnosed with a strained left hamstring Sunday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports. He will begin the season on the 10-day disabled list.
EDGE Analysis
This is obviously a tough blow for Wainwright, who had put together an impressive spring performance and was looking to get off to a strong regular-season start following his subpar 2017 showing. The veteran hurler will begin the season on the DL, but could ultimately miss more than the required 10 days as he rehabs his ailing hamstring. Jack Flaherty will step into the starting rotation for as long as Wainwright is sidelined.

Wainwright was scratched from Sunday's Grapefruit League start against the Nationals due to a hamstring injury, Tom Ackerman of KMOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
General manager John Mozeliak reported that Wainwright's injury is "hamstring related" but "hopefully not serious." Manager Mike Matheny is still scheduled to meet with the media this afternoon, so more details should be provided at that time. Wainwright should be considered day-to-day as things currently stand.

Wainwright was scratched from Sunday's Grapefruit League start against the Nationals, Ben Federickson of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
The details as to why Wainwright will not be making his final tune-up start prior to the March 29 opener haven't been revealed, so it's difficult to say if this is injury-related or not. Manager Mike Matheny is scheduled to address reporters this afternoon, so an update should be provided at that time. Jordan Hicks will take the mound in Wainwright's place.

Wainwright stretched out to 90 pitches against Mets minor leaguers on a back field Tuesday, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander is one of three members of the starting rotation -- Carlos Martinez and Luke Weaver being the others -- that are getting some work in against minor leaguers over the next several days instead of taking what would be their regularly scheduled turn against the Mets, which will the Cardinals' first opponent of the regular season. Wainwright will have one more opportunity to face major-league bats in Grapefruit League play, as he's slated to take the mound Sunday against the Nationals.

Wainwright (1-0) allowed an unearned run on four hits, a walk and a hit batsman over five innings in Wednesday's 3-1 Grapefruit League win over the Astros. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander's ERA is down to 0.84 over 10.2 spring innings following Wednesday's stellar start, one in which he served up just one extra-base hit -- a double -- and saw his four-seam fastball hit a spring high of 92 mph, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports. The 36-year-old remains on track to serve as the No. 2 starter in the rotation behind staff ace Carlos Martinez, and his efforts over his first three spring appearances validate that standing.

Wainwright is expected to start the Cardinals' home opener April 5 against the Diamondbacks, putting him in line to open the season as the No. 2 man in the team's rotation, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
That No. 2 label doesn't mean much with regards to Wainwright's staying power in the rotation throughout the season, as Carlos Martinez, Michael Wacha and Luke Weaver all probably enjoy more stability in their respective starting roles. The right-hander has seen his effectiveness wane while battling injuries the past two seasons, and was shuffled to the bullpen in the second half of the 2017 campaign before he was shut down with an elbow injury that required arthroscopic surgery in October. Now 36 years old and coming off a season in which he posted a 5.11 ERA over 123.1 innings, Wainwright no longer looks like a serviceable fantasy starter in most mixed formats.
