Wainwright was placed on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with mid-back tightness.
EDGE Analysis
This trip to the DL will be Wainwright's first since 2015. Without knowing the severity of the back injury, it's hard to say if the veteran pitcher will be forced to miss more than one start. Luke Weaver was scratched from his minor-league start Tuesday, Rob Rains of STLSportsPage.com reports, so it appears that he may step into Wainwright's spot in the rotation.

Wainwright (11-5) allowed two runs on four hits while striking out three over 7.2 innings, but received no decision Saturday against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright was at his best for seven innings as he held the Cubs scoreless, but he ran out of steam, giving up a pair of runs that cost him a shot at his 12th victory. He's held opponents to two or fewer earned runs in six of his last seven starts, and despite a 4.89 ERA, he's been a strong fantasy option during that time frame. He'll make his next start Thursday against the Diamondbacks.

Wainwright (11-5) allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and two walks while striking out just three batters over 5.2 innings during Monday's win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Wainwright's inconsistent season continued Monday, as he's now allowed two runs or fewer for the 11th time this season. Unfortunately, he's allowed 46 runs through 35.2 innings over his other eight starts. It is worth noting that the veteran has been much better at home with a 3.19 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 8.0 K/9, which is something to keep in mind moving forward. Wainwright lines up to face the Cubs at Wrigley Field in his next start.

Wainwright (10-5) allowed one run on five hits while striking out seven over 6.2 innings in a win over the Mets on Saturday. He did not issue a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Jay Bruce's homer in the seventh inning accounted for all of the damage against Wainwright. The 35-year-old struggled at home against the Marlins his last time out, giving up six runs over five innings, but he's been quite good otherwise while pitching at Busch Stadium (7-1 record, 3.19 ERA over 59.1 innings this season). Most of Wainwright's struggles have come on the road (8.36 ERA).

Wainwright (9-5) allowed six runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out eight batters through five innings during Monday's win over Miami.
EDGE Analysis
St. Louis scored four runs in the first inning and then seven more in the third frame, so Wainwright was in cruise control early on. However, the veteran surrendered six runs in the top of the fifth frame and didn't return for the sixth. Despite picking up the win and fanning eight batters, it wasn't an encouraging outing. Wainwright takes a 5.48 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 8.2 K/9 into his next start against the Mets at Busch Stadium.

Wainwright (8-5) struck out eight Diamondbacks over 6.1 innings Wednesday, giving up just two runs on eight his and a walk in a 4-3 win.
EDGE Analysis
He's now turned in two consecutive sharp outings, offering some hope that Wainwright may be turning the corner after a pair of blowups earlier in June. Waino is still on the margins of fantasy relevance in most formats, but he's been a bit unlucky, plus his track record makes any sign of a hot streak intriguing.

Wainwright gave up two runs on two hits and two walks over seven innings Friday but came away with a no-decision in a 4-3 loss to the Pirates. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Jameson Taillon was just as good for Pittsburgh, leaving the bullpens to settle the matter. Wainwright threw 66 of 97 pitches for strikes in delivering just his fifth quality start of the year, but after being hammered for nine runs in two separate outings this month the veteran righty still carries a 5.35 ERA. Things won't get any easier for him Wednesday on the road against the dangerous Diamondbacks.

Wainwright (7-5) allowed nine runs on seven hits (including three home runs) and a walk while striking out just one batter through 1.2 innings during Saturday's loss to Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
Allowing three homers stands out more than anything, as Wainwright had surrendered just five bombs through his first 13 outings of the year. The veteran has allowed four runs or more in seven of his 14 starts and sports a discouraging 5.75 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 7.6 K/9 for the campaign. However, Wainwright has also mixed in a number of gems, so he's still on the fantasy radar as a high-risk, modest-reward option. He'll look to bounce back at home against Pittsburgh in his next start.

Wainwright (7-4) gave up two earned runs on six hits and two walks over five innings in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Phillies. He also hit a batter and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Following a rough outing against the Reds last Tuesday, Wainwright bounced back with a solid outing, albeit one that featured a higher-than-ideal pitch count. The veteran right-hander was pulled after 84 pitches but did enough to notch his seventh victory in his last eight decisions. Wainwright has allowed two earned runs or less in five of his last six trips to the mound and has done an outstanding job limiting the long ball, having given up just one home run over that span. He'll look to keep the momentum going when he takes on the Orioles on the road next Friday.

Wainwright (6-4) surrendered nine runs on seven hits and three walks over 3.2 innings while striking out two in Tuesday's 13-1 loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
A third-inning grand slam by Scooter Gennett -- the first of four on the game by the former Brewer -- was the big blow but Wainwright struggled right out of the gate in this one, needing 89 pitches (55 strikes) to record only 11 outs. The brutal outing added more than a full run to his ERA, but he's in a good spot to right the ship in his next start Sunday at home against the Phillies.
