Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said Thursday that Adam Eaton will "probably" get a second opinion on his left elbow from Dr. James Andrews in the coming days. Eaton was recently pulled off his minor league rehab assignment due to renewed discomfort in his elbow. Towers said an MRI showed fluid around his ulnar collateral ligament, but no new damage was found. As of now, he's expected to rest for 2-3 weeks before restarting his rehab program, but he'll get Andrews' opinion just to be on the safe side.

Adam Eaton (elbow) underwent an MRI on Thursday. The MRI didn't reveal any structural damage, so Eaton managed to avoid a serious setback. It's still going to be a while before he returns to the Diamondbacks. Eaton is expected to need 2-3 weeks of strength and conditioning before he's cleared to resume a throwing program.

Adam Eaton is dealing with renewed soreness in his left elbow and has returned to Phoenix for an examination. Bad news. Eaton, who was diagnosed with a sprained ulnar collateral ligament in March, began playing in rehab games earlier this month and felt well enough to return to center field last week. However, the pain has returned. The worst-case scenario would be season-ending Tommy John surgery, but it's not clear if that's a consideration yet. But it's obviously a concern.

Adam Eaton (elbow) played five innings in center field for High-A Visalia on Friday. It's the first time he's played the field during his rehab assignment, as he had been limited to DH duty. Eaton was scheduled to play the field again on Saturday before being re-evaluated by the Diamondbacks. He should be activated before the end of the month. Manager Kirk Gibson said he's "not really worried about" finding enough playing time for all the members of a deep group of outfielders. "If we have guys, we'll find places for them to play," the manager added.

The Diamondbacks have shifted Adam Eaton's (elbow) rehab assignment from Triple-A Reno to High-A Visalia. Eaton is currently being limited to DH duties and the pitchers at Triple-A Reno will hit for the next week, so he had to find a new team to rehab with. Eaton is still a week or so away from manning center field. He's expected to rejoin the D'Backs near the end of May.

Adam Eaton (elbow) won't test his elbow out by throwing for another two weeks. Eaton began hitting last Thursday, but he's not ready to throw the ball just yet. He isn't expected to be ready to rejoin the Diamondbacks' lineup until mid-to-late May.

Adam Eaton (elbow) will hit in the batting cage Thursday. He will hit off a tee and have balls flipped to him at extended spring training. It's the first bit of action for Eaton since he was shut down a little over two weeks ago with a UCL sprain in his left elbow. "I know he's excited to do that," D'Backs manager Kirk Gibson said. "He's really champing at the bit." Eaton is still at least two weeks away from throwing a ball and won't return until mid-to-late May.
