Sanchez (finger) underwent a minor procedure Tuesday to remove part of one of his fingernails, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a visit to a hand specialist, it was determined that an operation on Sanchez's ailing finger would be the best course of action to alleviate his blister issues. There doesn't seem to be much concern that this will keep him out for an extended period of time, but a firmer timetable for his return to action should become clearer in the coming days.

Sanchez (blister) will see a hand specialist this week, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays' No.2 starter landed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday due to a blister issue on the middle finger of his pitching hand. He'll head to Kansas City to see a specialist to determine a concrete course of action for his recovery. According to Zwelling, Sanchez may need to have part of his fingernail removed to alleviate the issue. More information on Sanchez's outlook figures to be made available after his visit with the hand specialist.

Sanchez was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday due to a blister on his right middle finger, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
After a strong start against the Rays in his season debut April 8, Sanchez was hammered by the Orioles in his second turn Friday, serving up five runs on seven hits (including three homers) in 5.1 innings. Sanchez may have struggled to command his pitches due in part to the blister, and after being examined following the start, the Blue Jays decided it was best for him to skip his next turn. The team is hopeful it will only be a short-term setback for Sanchez, but it will nonetheless put the organization's thin starting pitching depth to the test. Matt Dermody was recalled in a corresponding move to give the Blue Jays an extra bullpen arm in the short term, but it's not immediately clear who might be the top candidate to replace Sanchez the next time the Blue Jays need a fifth starter April 22 against the Angels.

Sanchez (0-1) lasted 5.1 innings, allowing five runs on seven hits -- including three home runs -- and walked one while striking out three in Friday's loss to Baltimore.
EDGE Analysis
The All-Star allowed just 15 home runs through 192 innings last year, so allowing three dingers like he did Friday is a rarity for Sanchez. However, interestingly enough, Baltimore went deep off him four times in one game last year on June 12, so it seems the O's have something on the right-hander that other teams are missing. Regression from last season's breakout performance should be expected, but by no means should this awful outing indicate a major fall is looming. Sanchez will look to rebound Thursday when the Red Sox come to town. In four starts against the men from Bean Town in 2016, the 24-year-old went 2-0 while managing an impressive .163 BAA.

Sanchez dealt seven innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out six Rays in a no-decision Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Last season's breakout star looked better in the stat sheet than he did in person Saturday night. Sanchez managed to earn just 59 strikes over the 101-pitch performance, but to his credit, did a fine job working without his best stuff. The right-hander appears to have put last week's blister issue in the rear-view mirror and will make his next start Friday at home against Baltimore.

Sanchez has been confirmed as Saturday's starter against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
A blister issue surfaced late in spring training, but Sanchez was able to make it through a side session last weekend, putting him on track for Saturday's start. Sanchez struggled in Grapefruit League play, giving up 10 earned runs on 13 hits and nine walks over 10.2 innings, but expectations remain high for the 24-year-old following his All-Star campaign from a year ago.

Sanchez (finger) remains on track to start the Blue Jays' fifth game of the season Saturday against the Rays, MLB.com's Gregor Chisolm reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sanchez worked through a side session Sunday with no issues, which is why the Blue Jays are optimistic his first start of the season will go off without a hitch come Saturday. The 24-year-old struggled during spring training, racking up a 8.44 ERA. That sharply contrasts to the numbers the right-hander posted last season, which included a 3.00 ERA and a 15-2 record.

Sanchez (finger) was scratched from his final spring start Friday and will throw a side session over the weekend instead, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays took the cautious route with Sanchez on Friday rather than rush him back to game action before his finger is 100 percent. Despite being scratched Friday, Sanchez is still on track to start the Blue Jays' game against the Rays on April 8. Sanchez has struggled a bit this spring with an 8.44 ERA and more walks (9) than strikeouts (8), but he still figures to be a front-end starter in the Blue Jays' rotation once the season gets underway.

Sanchez (finger) is questionable for his last scheduled spring appearance, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was scheduled to appear once for the minor league squad as a tune-up for the regular season, but the Blue Jays are unsure if they want to push him into action after he popped a blister on his finger in his previous start. Per Chisholm, manager John Gibbons did note that the blister was looking much better than yesterday, and given the fact that Sanchez has dealt with an issue like this before, he doesn't expect the issue to inhibit him for much longer. It's unclear exactly when he'll be 100 percent, but Sanchez's availability for the regular season does not appear to be in any danger as of now.

Sanchez popped a blister in Monday's spring start, John Lott of the National Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays are already planning on pushing Sanchez's debut back to April 11, so it shouldn't cause Sanchez to miss any time. We'll keep an eye on his status as spring draws to a close, but since Toronto was planning on giving him a light workload this spring anyway, the injury shouldn't have much impact.
