Aaron Hill (quad) was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup. It's the second straight day he's been scratched. Hill's left quad injury doesn't seem like a big deal, but obviously he's not ready to test it out in a game setting. Consider him day-to-day.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that the Diamondbacks have finalized a three-year, $35 million extension with Aaron Hill. Olney says the deal will be officially announced later Friday. It's a nice salary bump for Hill, who will make $5.5 million in 2013 in what would have been his final season before free agency. He earned the new deal after batting .302/.360/.522 with 26 home runs, 85 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 156 games last season for the Snakes.

"We're interested in trying to come to an agreement with Aaron before the season starts," Diamondbacks CEO Derrick Hall said Monday. "We know he wants to be here and we obviously feel the same way and would like for him to be here." Hill batted .302/.360/.522 with 26 home runs, 85 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 156 games last season for the Snakes. The 30-year-old second baseman is scheduled to become a free agent following the 2013 campaign.

With the Diamondbacks down to their final out, Aaron Hill smashed a walkoff three-run homer off Rafael Betancourt to deliver a come-from-behind 5-3 victory over the Rockies on Tuesday night. Hill finished the evening 3-for-5 with a double, homer, run scored and three RBI. After a one-out single from John McDonald and a two-out knock from Gerardo Parra, the stage was set for Hill's dramatic blast. Offensively, he's been arguably the best second baseman in baseball this season, hitting an outstanding .305/.363/.526 with 26 homers, 85 RBI and 14 stolen bases.

The 31-year-old been a top fantasy second baseman and should be selected confidently in the early rounds of drafts next spring.

He'll likely be considered as a top-five option at his position heading into next season's fantasy drafts.
