Aaron Hill (hand) will need "at least" two more rehab starts before being activated from the disabled list. Hill has been on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno since Saturday and still isn't 100 percent. He won't be available for this weekend's series against the Reds, but could return early next week.

Aaron Hill (hand) experienced no problems when taking live batting practice on Friday, and will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno on Saturday. Hill will remain with Triple-A Reno through Wednesday, and if all goes well could be cleared to return to the Diamondbacks' lineup as early as next weekend. Hill has been limited to just ten games on the season after sustaining the hand injury in early April.

Aaron Hill (hand) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as this weekend. Hill played in an extended spring training game Thursday for the second straight day and hasn't had any issues with his fractured left hand. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson thinks he could be back in two weeks or possibly sooner. "I think it's kind of when we get some comfort that he's healthy, number one, and number two that he's comfortable facing major league pitching," Gibson said. "We'll see how it goes. We'll see how fast it progresses. Maybe it's two weeks from today, I don't know. Maybe a little earlier, if we're lucky."

Aaron Hill (hand) felt good after taking batting practice on Friday and will hit again on Saturday. Some teammates who watched Hill's batting practice session on Friday urged Arizona manager Kirk Gibson to get him back in the starting lineup as soon as possible. The second baseman should be cleared for a minor league rehab assignment early next week and is on track to be activated from the disabled list by the middle of June.

Aaron Hill (hand) took 40 swings hitting off a tee on Saturday. It's the first time he's hit since fracturing his left hand back in mid-April. If all goes well, Hill could face live pitching next weekend, with a rehab assignment likely to come shortly after that. He's still at least a couple weeks away from being activated.

Aaron Hill (hand) could start hitting by the end of the weekend. He did strength and exercise today and that went fine," Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said. "Hopefully he'll start hitting by the end of the weekend. He'll just progress from there." Gibson added that Hill will need a rehab assignment before returning and "could be a ways off" from being activated.

A CT scan taken of Aaron Hill's left hand Tuesday showed that it was "mildly improved" as compared to the last scan. He'll be eased into baseball activities to see how the hand responds. Hill has recovered much slower than expected from the fracture, as he's already missed six weeks of his original 4-6 week timetable. He's likely to be sidelined well into June.

Aaron Hill will have his left hand examined by a doctor next Monday. That will be two weeks after Hill was hoping to get the go-ahead to resume baseball activities, as his fractured hand is healing much slower than expected. The original timetable had him possibly returning by late May, but he probably won't be activated until well into June now.
