Hicks is starting in center field and leading off Tuesday against the Rays, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks was reinstated from the 10-day DL prior to Tuesday's contest, and he'll make his first start since suffering an oblique injury Sept. 2. He's missed 61 games this season due to oblique injuries, but he's compiled a respectable .265/.367/.463 line in 82 games when healthy. The Yankees have already locked up a playoff spot, so Hicks should see plenty of opportunities to shake the rust off over the final six games, though he may not play everyday with Jacoby Ellsbury and Clint Frazier also in the mix. He'll face Blake Snell in his return to the lineup.

Hicks (oblique) was activated from the 10-day DL prior to Tuesday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
He's been sidelined since Sept. 2, but has missed a total of 61 games this season with oblique injuries. However, when healthy, Hicks has been excellent, slashing .265/.367/.463 with 13 home runs and eight steals in 82 games. The Yankees have locked up a playoff spot, and should look to get Hicks acclimated over the final six games so they can determine whether he is fresh enough to be on the roster for next week's likely wild-card game. With Jacoby Ellsbury and Clint Frazier also in the mix, Hicks may not play every day over the rest of the season.

Hicks (oblique) is scheduled to play in Instructional League games Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and possibly Thursday, George A. King of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Joe Girardi indicated he wants to be sure the switch-hitting Hicks is comfortable from both sides of the plate before being activated, but the goal still seems to be a return before the end of the regular season next Sunday. Jacoby Ellsbury has filled in at center field in Hicks' absence and slashed an impressive .391/.500/.563 in September, so it remains to be seen if Hicks will immediately slot back into the starting lineup even when he does return to full health.

Hicks (oblique) traveled to Florida in order to record some plate appearances in the Instructional League, and will compete in a minor-league game Monday, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks was able to begin hitting off a tee Sunday, and this next step will finally allow him to receive some live at-bats as he continues to ramp up his recovery. With a minor-league appearance on tap for Monday, the outfielder could be back with the big-league club shortly after that outing, if all goes well during his rehab over the course of this week.

Hicks (oblique) was able to hit off a tee and throw on the field Sunday, George A. King of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Hicks had a slight setback earlier in the week after coming down with an illness, but that's now behind him. Now that he's gotten lighter swings under his belt, the outfielder is hoping to progress to a full batting practice session Tuesday. Hicks is still eyeing a return before the end of the regular season, but an exact timetable remains unclear.

Hicks (oblique) was able to work out on the field Wednesday, but had to leave early after coming down with strep throat, George A. King of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
It doesn't sound as though the illness will present a major setback, as Hicks is still planning to rejoin the club before the end of the regular season, but it could leave the 27-year-old off the field for a bit as he returns to full health. Once he's able to continue rehabbing his way back from the original injury, the next step for the outfielder figures to be testing out the injured oblique while swinging a bat. After that point, a timetable for an exact return date could become a bit clearer.

Hicks' latest oblique injury is not considered as serious as his prior one, and the Yankees are hopeful he can begin swinging a bat again in 10-12 days, Sweeny Murti of Sports Radio 66 WFAN reports.
EDGE Analysis
Teams typically don't bother with DL stints after September roster expansion has kicked in, but in this case it allowed the Yankees to add Caleb Smith back to their roster before his 10-day option window had expired. If that timetable for Hicks is correct, he should be able to rejoin the team before the regular season is over.

Hicks was diagnosed with a left oblique strain and was placed on the 10-day disabled list Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Though it was the right oblique that had troubled Hicks earlier this season, it's discouraging nonetheless that the outfielder is hampered by another core injury, which is expected to result in him missing more than the minimum 10 days. It's expected that Hicks' absence will open an everyday role back up for Jacoby Ellsbury, who was the team's only healthy outfielder off the bench with Clint Frazier (oblique) having yet to begin a rehab assignment.

Hicks is having an MRI on his oblique, which was injured in Saturday's game, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury is apparently on the opposite side from the injury that sidelined him earlier this season. We will wait to hear results of the MRI, but it's possible that Hicks could miss most, if not the remainder of the regular season. Jacoby Ellsbury will handle center field while he is out.

Hicks left Saturday's game with a left oblique injury, Pete Caldera of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
He exited after six innings after seemingly injuring himself while chasing down a flyball. He went 0-for-3 before exiting. Jacoby Ellsbury, who replaced him, figures to be the primary center fielder while Hicks is sidelined with the injury.
